He has great feet and composure, it might be a waste to use him as pure DM. Benta can dribble, can move with the ball smoothly, and he is tough as fuck. Hope Pep comes here, Rodrigo might be the most Fernandinho like mid we have – great touch, fast for CM, big, tough, does all the dirty work.

Great post. Totally agree with you, altough he's more a Busquets than a Pirlo/Xavi.

Being misused as a box to box midfielder, and plays more comfortably in front of the defence.

If im not mistaken he played as a DM at Uruguay aswell. But its very clear that managers see something in him. It took me quit some time to understand what kind of player he is. Had a strong run this season, last months his performances declined.

Yeah i'd agree that he's more so in the mold of a Busquets or Fernandinho rather than a regista like Pirlo/Xavi.

I really hope who ever comes in does not use him as b2b mid, would be an absolute waste.

I cant remember if he or Vecino played as a DM for Uruguay, but from my perspective he was undoubtedly the best mid....

2.5m for 5 seasons is an excellent deal, with Ramsey and likely another CM coming in I expect him to be a regular in our midfield rotation, but not part of the best starting 11

Don't know why people are hating on him. He is a good and young back-up for Pjanic and can even play box-to-box if needed. His salary is 2.7m per year, that's not too much. Good deal in my opinion.
