Where does that leave our wingers?!
Well you'd probably playing Mandzukic, Dybala or Bernardeschi on the wings anyway. May as well play them in more natural positions. Striker and attacking mid. When DC and Cuadrado come on switch to a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1. Easy.

4-3-1-2 seems like a bad idea. It requires fullbacks that can attack and right now we only have one fullback in the squad that is effective going forward.

Agreed, it is the fullbacks that provide the width in that formation and push in the final third.

This guy looks great, but he had few shaky moments vs Atalanta. He was also unlucky that Higgy was owned so badly by Caldara, he made few nice forward passes but since Higgies play with his back to the goal was nonexistent we just lost the ball everytime. Wish we have Lewandowski in games like this one.

The fuck? Higuain was one of the better players on the pitch yesterday.

4-3-1-2 is shit even with two Alex Sandros.

It's terrible defensively unless you have peak Arturo Vidal playing CAM because in defence it becomes 4-4-2 but peak Vidal does not exist right now.

And the only players that can come wide to receive a pass from the fullbacks are your strikers.

I have no idea at all why anyone would want to revert back to three man midfield. Do you all not remember how shit we were last season with it?

Our 3 man midfield worked when we had world class dynamic midfielders like Pogba and Vidal who covered every inch of the field, and were versatile enough to defend and attack effectively. We don't have those kinds of CMs anymore. Matuidi may have the energy but the dude is garbage with the ball.

part of switching to the 4-2-3-1 was to mitigate the amount of space and duties our CMs would have to cover and it was the right decision and we instantly saw the results of a much more suitable system.

Maybe the 4-3-3 with wingers could work but 4-3-1-2 or 3-5-2 would be terrible with this team, just terrible.

More like Bentancur misplacing the passes. He did a few of that the other night. Higuain was fine.

We are actually very smooth with a 433. Can't say the 4312 though cu we haven't used it
