Not a fan of this player, but he had a good game today.

I feel like he tries too hard to appear like the cool unfazed midfield maestro a la Pirlo. In this game the nonchalant touches went his way, but too many times it causes unneccessary loss of possession.

Still, a midfield consisting of him, Arthur and McKennie is our best bet moving forward this season IMO.

It's hard to play with a single pivot system before supercoppa against napoli.
He acted as regista and anchor alone. It's exhausting.
With arthur alongside him he get his best. He even enjoy to penetrate the final third area (still outside penalty box of course) with no worries because he knew there was arthur behind him

So we still would owe 50% of his fee to Boca if he was sold on? Only way around that would be to include him in a swap deal for Barella or De Jong?
I read that we are paying them €2m per season until 2025/26 to remove the 50% sell-on clause. So this would add up to €10-12m instead of potentially a lot more.

Still, I'm not too worried about such things whilst he is still so inconsistent.

there are no pure barters allowed, so the valuation would be in the contract, and should be paid to boca anyway.

the only way around is to sell two players to inda in exchange for barella. let's suppose barella's value is 50m, and our trojan horse beppe would pay 50m for bentancur too. now, we could sell them khedira for 45m and bentancur for 5m, boca gets 2,5m :hihi:

Said some interesting things against Sky post match. He prefers to play regista over mezz’ala, that Pirlo asks him to give more of those long passes and that he knows that he should score more, and more long distance shots in particular. He practices them at training, said that he knows that he has a decent shot but misses some self esteem during the match.

Really good game, some nice first time passes in behind (one in particular put Ronaldo in) and protected the defence well. Seems to be developing an understanding with Arthur too.

The yellow looked a terrible decision, hopefully Rabiot can fill in vs Roma.

For the first half an hour he was brilliant, really kept his position, intercepted and kept the ball when under pressure. It was the Bentancur we all know. He slowed down after the yellow. Shame he's gonna miss the Roma match as both him, Arthur and weston were starting to show signs of a formidable trio.

Back to loving Bentan? Nothing new. He is our best midfielder we have. This speaks volumes about the state of our midfield.
Meh. Our mid is a mediocre bunch. Hard to single one out tbh.

I'd even pick the murican at this point. Bentancur is pissing me off way too much with his stupid yellows and the inevitable brainfarts. I'm sweating each time he has the ball around our own box.
