I'm not a hater, but I'm not a supporter either. When the mercato comes to a close I'll judge him. So far this mercato is barely a 5 for me. No striker and no LB/LWB means there is no way I can deem it a success.

The Daily Fail also said that David Silva, Yaya Toure, Samir Nasri had all snubbed City and had signed for United during their transfer sagas. They also said Alexis Sanchez had all but signed for City months before he actualy moved to Barca. The people at the Fail are clueless. They couldn't find their own Ar*se with both hands and a map.

Marotta is just letting Arsenal know there's no way they will get anything near the money they are asking for. If Juve don't get RVP it wont be due to financial restraints imo. It will be because the player chose otherwise.

How do you figure? Obviously the player could choose otherwise, especially with the complications surrounding Conte, etc., but based upon some of the wage numbers that are being thrown around, AND the fact that Arsenal seem determined to hold out for 20-25M?

Say RvP wants to make 8M per season, which is probably between 2-4M less than he'd earn at City anyway... I don't think Juventus would be willing to do it. Especially if he wants a 4-5 year deal; 4 years at 8M (net), which is about, what, 14-15M per year after taxes. We could be talking about a total outlay in the realm of 80-85M dollars, for a soon to be 29 year old (Read: likely very minimal/no resale value) who will need to adjust to a new league, and has had some issues staying healthy.

Numbers at 6M per year - which would be the absolute minimum the player would conceivably accept, given he's on like 4.5M or something now - would be around 60-65M. That begins to seem possible, but he could earn close to double that salary at City.

Factor in that Juventus have already spent considerable money in the market, the club might need to find replacements for Pepe and Bonucci, and the club still needs another LB.

I could easily see Beppe not getting too involved in the RvP discussions because of the money involved. This club is actually run as a sustainable business, not as a Sheikh's ego driven hobby.

My understanding, based upon comments from papa Persie, and considering the loyalty factor that a captain should have, is that RvP does not want to join a direct rival. However, money talks, and there are relatively few suitable suitors for his services right now. IMO, that's the only reason City has any shot at the player at all.

Edit: that 4.5M number is from memory, but that could even be pounds. In which case...

Your bitter undertone is both unnecessary and unwelcome. Even though we have one of the best squads on the planet and we are the reigning Champions of what is considerd the best league in the world you think the only reason we have a chance of signing RVP is money? Hmmm Ok mate, Whatever floats ya boat.

My point was that Arsenal will get nowhere near the money they are asking for and pretty much everyone except you seems to know that. RVP's wage demands might be a stumbling block. But he has stated time after time it is more about the ambition of the club and his chance of winning titles that matters most. I'm sure Juve could put together satisfactory offers to both Arsenal and RVP. My point that it would be his choice if he doesn't opt for Juve seems to bother you? Well it will happen to 2 of the 3 clubs in for him. Nobody knows who yet...

Stop being such a smacked ar*se

Edit: To call City a "Sheiks ego driven hobby" shows both your foolhardy misunderstanding of both the MCFC project and most importantly The kind of guy Sheikh Mansour is. I suggest you do some research on him.

If we did sign someone like van Persie, it could have a positive effect with future signings. Bringing in a big name will encourage others to follow suit.

£20 million is a lot of money but considering the sums of money spent on other strikers not nearly as good (Carrol, Dzeko etc.) and the amount we've wasted on certain transfers in the past 6 years I see this kind of outlay as relatively low risk in some ways. This of course isn't a reason to spend that money on van Persie and it's strange to say but if he comes here and flops I don't think we would regret this transfer as much as some others...

If we are offering anywhere between 0-7 million what the Manchester clubs are bidding I would expect Arsenal to favour our bid to be honest
