Still remember Henry had injury problems that previous year before he was sold.Whereas Van Persie is coming at the back of his best season in his career and has been the undisputed best player in the PL this season.Surely that holds some weight no ?And Arsenal want to keep him at all costs which they wont be able to i'm afraid,hence taht price tag.25m in the end is a fair deal to me.Not overpaying or underpaying in this case.

Regardless, 25 million for a player who's, supposedly, desperate to leave; is on the last year of his contract (which he will not renew) is terribly steep. Even more so if you consider that player is on the wrong side of 25.

People may want a big name or a "top" striker, but paying 50 million for a 23 year old may just be a much cheaper option than paying 25 for Van Persie...

People who think paying between 25-30m is steep, need to take two things into consideration. A) A couple of good Euro performances could fetch him an even higher price. B) The market dynamics and competition one might face from other clubs like Shitty. Without forgetting the fact that he is coming from a richer league to a poorer one.

RvP is IMO more complete than Higuain and Cavani who I anyway find a bit overrated. Yes, RvP has age going against him, but his acquisition is going to make an immediate impact coz he's hitting his prime. At 28, we could get 4 more years out of him at the highest level. As for what Moggi said, he's still got great taste because Suarez will rip shit up here no doubt. But RvP and Dzeko are not like Borriello, his game is more unique than theirs. Slitting through defenses with amazing finesse, displayed in every dive.
