Wenger: Van Persie won’t join Juve
By Football Italia staff

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has poured scorn on the idea of Robin Van Persie joining Juventus.

Van Persie was the Premier League's top scorer with 30 goals last season and has been linked with a number of clubs, but the strongest speculation has surrounded a potential move to the Serie A champions.

The Dutch international recently described Juve as 'a great team' and was rumoured to have been in Turin for signing talks earlier this summer.

However, Wenger, who is working as a commentator for French television at Euro 2012, has scotched the claims and had a pop at Serie A's prestige in the process.

“He will stay at Arsenal,” commented the Frenchman in an interview with La Repubblica.

There is no reason why a top player, a big champion would want a move to Serie A in terms of the prestige of the League, the level of play or financial considerations.

“If he moves there I will buy you a caramello.”

Wenger's side were eliminated from the Champions League by Milan last season after a 4-0 first leg thrashing at San Siro.

What a dick.

i like how the article was ended :seven:

Haha yeah. Football italia includes "Wenger's side were eliminated from the Champions League by Milan last season after a 4-0 first leg thrashing at San Siro." whereas goal.com doesn't.

Wenger is just a clueless old fart who is now used to and is probably doesn't mind how his team is getting raped by other major teams in the pitch and in transfers. Last time Arsenal won a trophy is in 2005(FA Cup). We won the league in 2006, got relegated and then came back to win it last season
Bunch of fucking losers.

It really had felt like a lifetime since we last won a trophy. We went through it all and it was eventful despite being depressing a lot of the time, how bored must Arsenal fans be?

Bundesliga and South America and other lower leagues should be our hunting ground apart from Italy ofcourse..Like i said these PL and La Liga targets see Serie A as a step down ,unless we're offering both club and the player a bottle load of cash ,it would be very difficult to lure them.Sad but true.

I think they're used to this and probably don't care how they perform. Some of the Arsenal fans I know are supporting Bartha now

Great player, but I never wanted him at Juve. Jovetic is still my top choice. P.S. Wenger better focus on winning something instead of talking $hit about another league. Bitter old man.

Find myself having far too many arguments with my Arsenal friends these days. They're so deluded, believing as Treq said above that they're above everyone else because of their style of play. I think this way of thinking is inherited from the manager to be honest, there's a real superiority complex there that is conpletely unwarranted.

These 'friends' haven't a clue about Italian football and so the usual 'cheaters' slur is frequently thrown at me, Conte is corrupt, FC Scandal etc. I've given up responding at this stage and just pray that we meet them in the Champions League and give them a good beating.

I've got to say though. Despite rankings and what have you, I see no huge difference in quality between Serie A and EPL. Different styles, yes but the quality of english football is being severely over rated. Just about every EPL game I saw last season was a complete yawn fest. The quality lacked from the top to the bottom of the table and that showed in european competitions.
