Well if we are looking at Spalletti.

He inherited Pelizzoli, Panucci, Mexes, Chivu, De Rossi, Tommasi, Perrotta, D'Agostino, Aquilani, Mancini, Montella, Totti, Cassano, the stronger players anyway. Roma were under a transfer buying ban so he only could add Doni and Taddei who were already arranged. So he went with the team (of 4 managers including Prandelli and Delneri :D) from the season before.

2005-06: 2nd (Serie A), Last 16 (UEFA Cup), Final (Coppa Italia)

2006-07:
In (key): Cassetti, Pizarro, Vucinic, Julio Sergio
2nd (Serie A), QF (Champions League - including Man Utd stuffing), Winner (Coppa Italia)

2007-08:
In: Juan, Giuly
2nd (Serie A), QF (Champions League - Man Utd again closer), Winner (Coppa Italia)

2008-09:
In: Riise, Julio Baptista, Menez
6th (Serie A), Last 16 (Champions League - Arsenal), QF (Coppa Italia)

2009-10:
In: Burdisso, Toni
Sacked

One thing you notice is that he didn't have a lot of money to spend, but did have a lot of consistency in the squad and with a system. He inherited a lot of talented players from a shoddy previous regime and stabilised them. Sounds a little too familiar.

He wasn't really second in 2005/06. He was 5th (or 6th?). Juve, Milan, Inter and Fiorentina were top 4. But Calciopoli made him 2nd. If Spalletti was 2nd in 2006 then Mancini won a scudetto that same year.

Yes, but you don't mention how Roma's budget was 3mln euros at most during those years and they couldn't buy anyone unless they sell some player.

His achievement in Roma looks good, I don't see why people think that was bad? His squad was limited and like I said, his bench was very, very weak and they had no depth. Del Neri, Völler and Bruno Conti failed to do shit with the same squad.

Add to note that D'Agostini didn't even play there and he started to do good once he moved, so they didn't even count on him.

Prandelli never coaches Roma. His wife got sick and never took the job. It was Del Neri, Völler and Bruno Conti who failed before him.

I said he had little money.

Del Neri, Völler and Bruno Conti failed to do shit with the same squad.
Just shows what happens when you get into the chop and change routine.

I think alot of coaches are going to find it hard to get a line in the squad at manshit, composed of mostly mercenary's, and an impressive flow of players comming and going.

if manshit didnt had kompany, they would be 8th in the epl or so

He'll stay, he looks certain to finish top four and with a little luck can even win the FA Cup, if so he's met his objectives at City and I see no reason for him to want to leave.

Moggi: 'Mancini the man for Juve'

Former Juventus director general Luciano Moggi believes the Turin giants should sign Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini for next season.

“Mancini is a very good Coach and I would bring him to Juventus,” Moggi told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“I do not have a great friendship with him, but I do know him, as we have spoken often.

“When choosing a tactician you look at his talent and Mancini could do very well.

“He has also done what many others refused to: he revised ideas he had expressed in the past.”

This is a reference to the Calciopoli scandal, as Mancini was in charge of the Inter side that benefited from Juve’s demotion to Serie B in 2006.

Juventus were stripped of two Scudetto titles, the 2006 edition handed to Inter by the courts.

The Bianconeri continue to maintain Gigi Del Neri will see out his contract even if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

is that cause you read my article on mancini supporting his claim to take charge at Juve that i wrote last year? :p

TBH I have always rated him as a coach, it's another thing that serie-A was shit when he lead Inter to the titles but same could be said about Mourinho.

He also had good words for us after he left Inter. But he was talking BS when he was in Inter :p

I can see the ultras giving him a hard time after first draw.

He's standing in the fourth place, Tottenham have 3 points less and a game less played. He doesn't look that certain to a top four finish. With Tevez out for a month, it would be a hard task for him to finish fourth.
