His price is rising over that of Bremer now. He was serie a defender of the year and bought from a rival.

I don't know if Koop can reach the same output away from Atalanta but if you gave me the choice between those stats from a CM or Califiori for 50m, I would pick the CM.

Heard from a very reliable friend that told me the Bologna SD basically stated that he refused to sell him to Juve.

    Any truth to that?
I read that too but it can be something as simple as we don't want to pay what they ask for him.

calafiori is italian, looks to have elite qualities, his salary isn't outrageous either. the next chiellini as italian, easy nt starter, expected to be loyal (reliable as a person). and bremer will be gone next summer so there's that toi

neither of them are 50m players though, not even on this market. regardless of the economics of either deals, on the long run i'd prefer to have calafiori though. more of a juventus signing than a good dutch cm who worked well in a specific system

(and i like koop. he's a good player for serie a. switch him with one of miretti, mckennie and loca and we're winning both league games vs atalanta.)

some say it was close to being done at 35m before the euros but then Bologna changed their minds after the Croatia game and said 50.

50m is just plain too much, the only way for us to match is Marotta 2years loan special+obligation

7.5m loan each year + 35m obligation after 2 years payable in 7 years installment. If you put it this way this is actually look cheap and good bargain

That's a bit of wishful thinking. Instead of a new Giorgio, he can become good, old Ogbonna or Caldara. Or we could say that Huijsen will become much better than Calafiori.

But also if Califiori is not the next Chiellini and is the next Caldara, we'll get stuck with him because Italians need abcdefg reasons to move abroad whereas Koop would go abroad willingly.

I just think theoretically I would always take the cm with 20 goal contributions. The ancillary benefits for Vlahovic and others would be more imo. Again, if Koop can even maintain that output.

A cb is just... like if you're relying on your cb you're kind of already in trouble.

He is a very good defender, but these Nesta/Maldini comparisons need to stop. It's like comparing Bellingham to Zidane - nonsense.

There are three main reasons why losing out on him will hurt us though:

1.) It seems he really wanted to join us and would have remained loyal to the cause - having an Italian CB as a foundation piece/cornerstone of the defense has always been part of our identity/DNA

2.) He was relatively affordable in terms of both transfer fees and wages, and finding someone like him again might be far more costly

3.) We might end up losing Bremer next summer, and then we'll need two new CBs because the others are either absolute garbage (Gatti) or too raw (Huijsen)

I am disappointed to not get him but if he really wanted to come he could have forced a move to us and rejected other proposals. Anyway Arsenal were bound to get a player ahead of us eventually after thet failed with Chiesa, Vlahovic, Locatelli any many others.

There must be a CB somewhere in France who is just as good as him, get him.
