Overpaying and a big mistake like buying De ligt for 70m. Don't know why Chelsea want 50m for a bench player! Bermer will return next season and be a regular in the lineup. Bermer and kalulu are the core of the defense. This guy will ride on the bench if he stays.

No way we should pay anything more than say €35M at tops, and ideally even that should via a loan plus option/obligation, mainly because i don’t even think we can afford it, nor if it’s worth committing such a high fee on a gamble/potential type player when what we really need is more guarantees and experience.

Either way, first we need to wait and see how we finish the season and what role Veiga himself will play in this run before everyone can properly evaluate and take a decision.

Yeah if we really want him we tell him to get his agent to do his job and get that price way down.

No doubt the player’s will should also play an important role in this, and he already seems happy and well adapted to the environment here.

Realistically i don’t even think PL clubs are ready to bid that high for him just yet, but it could as well be what Chelsea’s initial asking price is for them, which is likely negotiable, although i’m sure they’d also rather sell him abroad instead of to a direct rival if the offers aren’t too far apart.

I'm just not used to a club giving a high initial asking price for players they don't want

We will obviously need to decide on a coach before we consider any spending this summer. We started this season planning to play a back 4, so shipped out 3 CBs on loan only to end it playing a back 3. I wouldn’t trust this guy in a 2 long term even if Bremer held his hand and he did ok initially in the back 4.

Agreed, although it’s not all that unusual for talented prospects in top clubs where the competition for places is tough, and if we are to go by most rumors Chelsea is not all that willing to part ways yet due to Mareaca supposedly rating Veiga highly, so unless a big offer arrives they are not that open to a permanent sell, hence why in January we’ve also only managed to get him on a dry loan.

This guy gets beat in the open every single time. We play 3 CBS so he's protected on both sides. Maybe his marking is a touch ahead of the others in terms of awareness. Physically he's well below.
