Honestly, I hope we keep him. I liked a lot of what I saw from him and I do believe he has the talent he just needs the experience and a coach to mold him.

If Conte did come and we ran with a back three, Kalulu/Veiga/Bremer would be a really good back three. Gatti goes to the bench in that case and then we have a Cabral on the bench as the 5th CB to rotate and potentially a younger guy or Next Gen graduate for 6th CB.

easily our best cb in the last few months of the season

then again, the bar wasn't too high

i wouldn't mind another loan, but with an option around 30m this time

He's returning to Chelsea according to Schira.

Too bad. Think he has the potential to grow; he has good feet, the physique to become stronger in the duels and he has som leader qualities too.

No point in loaning players that you dont intend to sign. Especially if you loan young players that need to grow. We've had Veiga for 6 months now and he has grown and he plays a position where its hard to find quality. He has had strong performances and is showing leadership qualities. We are probably dumb enough to invest the €25m needed to sign him elsewhere. This transfer shouldnt take up a lot of time. Sign Veiga. Be done with the defense. I like Leoni but he is less of a guarantee than Veiga at this point. And we need a starter to play next to Bremer. Veiga is that. And he is left footed. Leoni is right footed and also more of a gamle at this point.

well, its Kelly who should be leaving us and this guy should be staying, but there is one incompetent motherfucker who was just fired.
It takes time to make up for what Giuntoli did wrong in adding players who were not needed and were given terrible contracts/clauses. It will cost the club a while.

We were bleeding and needed to add some bodies in the winter.

I'd rather sign some players on loan, knowing we won't keep them, than make a signing like Lloyd Kelly.

You can always try to renegotiate terms in the summer and work out a fair deal where both sides are happy

Finishing top 4 and getting that Champions League for next season is much more important than losing a few million in loan fees

I’d rather we find a way to sell Kelly and use those funds to finally work out a deal with Chelsea for Veiga, a loan with option/obligation to buy at around €30M wouldn’t be exaggerated in the current market for his age and potential, especially now that he is adapted to the league and our environment, even more so if we could somehow recoup half of that sum from offloading Kelly.

Not much of a difference between veiga and rugani outside of age tbh, veiga wouldve been an investment for the bench.
So are you saying that a 21yo promising CB already reached his ceiling and is on par with Rugani…

Ok, anything else?

Basically nothing to do with the fact that Chelsea and other interested parties might rate him high enough to not be forced to release him for cheap or via an option to buy as we might've liked? And for the record i also want us to keep Rugani as backup, but your comparison is totally off, one can at best only be a solid rotational player whereas the other has the traits and potential to be fighting for an starting spot for many years to come.
