Volpato snaps knee ligament Wednesday 12 April, 2006

Juventus-owned starlet Rej Volpato will be out for six months after snapping a ligament in his left knee.

The support striker, who was on loan at Siena this season, discovered the extent of the damage during tests this afternoon.

Doctors diagnosed the complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and he will undergo surgery over the next few days after a consultation with Juve’s specialists.

Volpato is a 19-year-old Bianconeri youth product who impressed during his stint at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, scoring two goals in 13 Serie A appearances, mainly as a substitute.

There was strong talk of him returning to the Juventus base at the end of this loan spell, but the extent of this injury means he’ll probably be farmed out again once he recovers to re-establish his form and credentials.

sad case..hope he doesn't go off form when he comes back..

Dont see the fuss about volpato, Paladino is a better player and Paolucci is a better prospect than either of them... Probably our only product who is destined to really shine at juve...

Well sadly for Volpato I think that this injury leaves him out or a return to Juve next season.

I guess Palladino will be our 4th striker.

ACLs are a mess. Poor guy has some serious recovery ahead of him. Best wishes...
