He must know himself he does not perform the way he wants too. I think thats what Raul has thought.
Its not quite like that.

Raul knew he wasn't going to get a sniff with all the big stars in Real Madrid, thats why he left.

Del Piero knows that he is definitely going to get a lot of playing time as the competition isn't all that great.

Edit: Bah, Gabriel beat me to it.

How do other players get a chance if Del Piero wont give up?

What you mean Amauri and Iaquinta haven't had enough chances? Fact is, DP leaving now would not be good for Juve.

which players, nick?

i'd rather play say del piero and amauri than iaquinta and amauri upfront.

btw, before Diego enters the argument, i agree he should play over alex, but barring him we don't have anyone else, giovinco is more of a winger anyways.

edit: fred beat me to it.

Nick, what's so great about Giovinco anyways? even if don't rate him high at all, if he were to make a difference it would be on the wing, as an SS he'd get bullied too easily and no, he's no messi.

It feels right seeing you defending Diego Nick, after eventually saw you wishing to trade him with a list of players. :D

I'd like to see him being a run of games.

Raul could have stayed if he wanted to. He didn't want to stay, because he wasn't ready to sit on the bench.

Real did nothing wrong here.
Agree,

There will be a time when DP, will have to sit on the bench much more than he thinks, realities of football.. On another note.

Diego Maradona said:
"I am certain that Del Piero really never grows old"

They didn't do anything wrong.

But what hits me it's that whenever there's a new signing they announce it with days/weeks of anticipation, open the stadium and let thousands of fans in to admire their new player.

However, when their recent times legend is going to say farewell they announce it a day earlier, leave the stadium closed and just open a room for his speech, you would think he deserved better. Kinda sad, really.

Thats true. Guess new signings bring more publicity and in turn more money thats probably more important to them than the symbolic value of their legend.

I was watching earlier today a reportage about Raul and some of his finest moments and the highlights of his career. I wont deny that I had tears watching this.

Raul to me, is an icon, like Del Piero, a respected classy captain, a man that is well deservedly respected worldwide and has done and given a lot for Football not to mention playing for over 15years for a club such as Real Madrid is something to dream of day and night for almost everyone.

It saddens me not to see a farewell match and enjoy Rauls last game wearing Madrid jersey, but he will surely be missed.

Respect and all the best to Raul. A player I will surely miss watching La Liga and Real Madrid.
