I'm not muslim, I'm atheist. But I don't agree, I think his body is used to it already and he as professional athlete can keep his condition at top level, even during this period. He wouldn't play if that wasn't the case. Lack of condition would be visible during training, let alone official matches.
 True. Maybe I'm biased coz i fast... but once you are used to it you hardly notice... you take early breakfast and skip lunch... then you get to have an early dinner... its no big deal... your body gets tuned to it over the years... the medical staff are not stupid... the coach may have made stupid decsions when it comes to on field activities but its stupidity to say that he won't be able to notice drop in performance during training... you don't expect coaches in this day and age to put out half fit players on the field unless in emergencies... so if Ranieri thinks its affecting his performances then he'll bench him... and Sissoko won't have a say in it... its not like Sissoko needs to go to Ranieri and say "I'm fasting this month, i'll be a model professional and sit on the bench... so please bench me and send Molinaro at CM instead"... ultimately its up to the coach to decide if he wants the player on the field or not...

That's fine by me. I just don't think someone who says he does not want to take care of his body because of personal reasons should play for Juventus (at least not until he does act like a pro). If he was an alcoholic it would be an outrage, but because it's his "religion" it's all okay. It's bloody obvious he's not going to be as good as he can be while fasting. Surely this whole fasting thing is spinning out of control.

you obviously are right but no one here is discussing stipulations in his contract. if juventus knew about before they signed him, then sissoko is not in breach of contract which he otherwise would be for not properly eating.

I hear, Sissoko is fasting too eh. Respect.
Then I don't want to see him anywhere near the squad. If he refuses to take proper care of his body, like any football player should, Ranieri should not take the obvious risk of playing him.
    :lol2:
Oh spare us the dramatics Seven. Plenty of athletes have fasted in the past and Sissoko won't be the last. Hakeem Olajuwon fasted for as long as I can remember and nothing happened to him.
Basketball = Time Outs, breaks, rests.

    Soccer = None of those.
What do you mean nothing happened to him? I'm fairly confident that Sissoko won't die on the pitch because of the fasting. What I am worried about is that his performance obviously drops. To perform at any level of football you need to drink and eat well. Performing at the highest level of football while fasting is simply insane. It might be a cruel world, but IMO Sissoko has to choose: either he follows his religion and is benched or he acts like a professional and takes proper care of his body.

You're being fooled by Ze. It's not about potential risks. It's about his performance. Which will drop. A lot of you guys might be muslim, but I think science is pretty solid on this one.
    Agree.

    You tell him :D

I'm sure Sissoko was just fine during the match, let's not get carried away. It's not like he didn't eat for days. I'm also fasting and I dont feel weak or anything. I go to class 4 days a week by bike, that's a 45min trip. I have football training every monday and thursday, in the weekends I play a match, I go boxing every wednesday and all this while functioning normally :D.

I once read somewhere that sometimes Kolo Toure used to miss a half-time team talk, since he would pray.

By the time he was done, it's time for 2nd half kick off.

Freddy Kanoute requested to remove Sevilla's sponsor from his jersey, since it's a gambling site (gambling being forbidden in Islam). Sevilla actually respected his wishes.

Lack of condition is visible. Furthermore he is also more prone to injuries as he isn't hydrated. Trust me, an athlete who doesn't eat or drink doesn't perform as well as one who does.

If Juventus play at three in the afternoon there's a problem. This getting tuned thing is just nonsense. An athlete needs water. If you exercise without water for years, you'll get better at exercising without water. You'll never be as good as someone who drinks though.

you obviously are right but no one here is discussing stipulations in his contract. if juventus knew about before they signed him, then sissoko is not in breach of contract which he otherwise would be for not properly eating.
It might not be in his contract, but I think CR should take into consideration that this player isn't fully fit.

Finally someone who looks at this from a rational point of view rather than an emotional one.
