1st thing that must be done is to define Palladino´s position. When he plays several matches in a row in the same position he might show some consistency. Poor guy is being swapped from one to another position every match. Define his role and train him to do that. People forget how good he was in several matches 2months ago. He might be very useful.
What has he shown to be given a Pirlo role? Excellent technique, and touches, but not exactly shown signs to get that kind of re-modelling. It just seems desperate attempt to find him room.
He will either stay as backup, leave to improve, or show star quality enough to good enough starter for us. The latter is the most unlikely, despite me wanting him to succeed.

Pirlo was a PLAYMAKER upfront, as AM, Ancelotti made him a deep laying playmaker, he changed his position, bit lower down the field, but not the fact that Pirlo was a playmaker, thats irrelevant to his exact position.
Palladino is somewhat technical and free roaming forward/shadow striker, but not much of a good passer (thrives more in having the ball at his feet), especially longer range passer which a Pirlo role thrives on. In fact, why are we arguing it...Palladino is not a playmaker, period.
