Palladino To Stay At Juventus?
There are reports in Italy that Raffaele Palladino may stay at Juventus after all, as he will be needed for next season’s Champions League preliminary round.
Palladino is widely regarded as one of Italy’s best young talents, however he had a frustrating season where he has often either sat on the bench, or was employed in an unfavoured wide midfield position.
In total the 24-year-old made just 14 Serie A starts, and it had looked almost certain that he would be leaving this summer. The skilful forward reportedly rejected a move to Palermo, but there has been strong interest also from the likes of Sampdoria, Fiorentina, Napoli and even Arsenal.
However Juventus are now said to be reconsidering their intention to sell Palladino, as they will require him for the Champions League preliminary round in August.
The Bianconeri will have to play a two-legged qualifier after finishing third in Serie A. Sebastian Giovinco will be on duty with Italy Under-21s at the Olympics, while Pavel Nedved will be suspended for the first leg. With Marco Marchionni certain to leave Juve, Claudio Ranieri is left with precious few options in the wide midfield roles.
Therefore Palladino may indeed stay, as nothing will be taken for chance as Juve attempt to qualify for the lucrative group stages of Europe’s premier club competition.
