Its not about rejecting players from playing here but not signing almost has-been players whose main draw are the millions they're going to get before their retire.
I think they should just focus on their own home grown talent and not sign aging players on ridiculous deals from abroad. You should build history and not try to buy it. The Chelsea and Man City model creates the atmosphere mercenaries live off of and that doesn't help build history.
The majority of the players in the MLS are young Americans. So the base is there. You've got guys like Omar Gonzalez, Tristan Bowen, Robbie Findley, etc coming up.
The Beckham deal was a debacle, no doubt about it.
But signing players like Lungberg, Henry, Angel, isn't going to hurt the league's development. You have to remember that it's still under 20 years old, it's still growing.
