FYI Fred French and English are both way worse then Italy, simply because couple decades of colonization cant be compared to centuries of it...
When did the Italians unite and become one country? When did they become strong enough militarily to be able to colonize like the rest. Those are the reasons Italy wasn't a colonial power for centuries like the French and English and not because they're better or something like that.

To all the guys discussing colonialism, can't we just agree that there are very few positive aspects to either side's actions. The French might not have raped and killed while they were there, but they had a field day in Algeria during the time for independence. You can twist anything, colonialism is wrong and evil in its original form - can't debate which is the lesser of those evils.

I know, but just clarifying just because French and English "stabilized" their colonies more then Italy when it became unfashionable/unprofitable to have colonies, doesnt mean one should forget centuries of heinous crimes, that by pure historic fact is worse then Italy's brief run of same (I know what you mean btw, Somalia was also partly italian colony). What Italy did in Libya at that time England and France had already done to dozen of colonies way past that point.

Chriss pmed me, he's not posting on the forum anymore because of the hostility. I talked to him, he says he's not racist and I believe him. I think you misunderstood his comments, which weren't very clear because of his lack of fluency in English.

Peace.

Italians took Ethiopean and Somali slaves too. Its just that they didn't colonize enough African countries to be as active a participant in the slave trade as France and Britain.
From my understanding (and history classes long ago), slavery was abolished under the colonial "regimes" in those two places.

Plus, what Italy did in Libya was genocide, or at best bordering on genocide. They did absolutely nothing in the country other than make concentration camps, and commit mass killings.
Do you have any relevant links for this genocidal activity? I'm admittedly ignorant (poor memory!) about Libya and I'm genuinely curious to know more. I can't seem to find anything through Google with such keywords.

I personally never said he was racist nor thought he was racist. Mfdoom is the racist one. But i do think Chriss is too nationalist, and needs to remove his Italian tainted goggles.

True, but we tend to use nationalistic expressions when it's something we're proud of, and steer away from them when it's a touchy subject. The fact is the way brits/ italians / frenchies are living today is to a certain degree a result of the their ancestor's actions - some generalization is the basis for any meaningful discussion :p

That is probably the case.

Usually, people like this guy tend to be ok posters if they can make through the first few days.

Not that I'm celebrating that we have one less poster now - but I like the way the vocal part of the forum reacts to radical elements.

That tends to happen from time to time. People either adjust or move on.
