I bet at least half of them were Azzurri fans before becoming Juve fans.
Could very well be. I started following Juventus cause i saw Baggio at the 94 world cup, and he impressed me(I was 4 years old haha), and the next season i saw him play with Juve and i just kept on following the team from there.

I still support Italy, as Malta will never qualify for anything(but if they ever had to play i'd obviously support Malta), but even so, when Italy play i feel a certain passion, though not as much as during Juventus games.

I still have no idea why anybody on here cares what NT other people support regardless of whether it fits with your logic or not. Can somebody who does care enough about who other people support that they can't shut up about it fill me in on why it is their business?

Why do we all have to have the same idea about nationality and pick teams to support for the same reasons? Why does picking a team to support have to be logically sound to be acceptable?

and finally why is this debate which never gets anywhere still going on? Is it really that difficult to accept that people can make up their own opinions about what sports teams like and don't like without having to review and state why to justify it?

How did you get to American without holding a passport? You would have been 9-10 youngest when you left and from my memory in the UK you stop being on your parents passports from the age of 8. Also if you were born in Italy you will be able to apply for an italian passport so its a redundant question.

Thats when I started supporting Italy. The final was the first match I saw on TV. Even though I used to play football, I don't remember ever watching it on TV (I used to turn off the TV after watching cartoons :p) I think the reason I liked them was because of the divine ponytail :D (Same reason I started supporting Juventus, I thought Ravenelli's hairdo was cool :p)

Let me make it simple and easy...

I support and cheer Italy in this world cup, and if you don't like it then sue me or take a legal action against me.

Some of you are not only ignorant but bunch of pricks, by your logic's and theories out of the 195 countries in this world only 32 countries should watch this world cup which leaves 163 countries that shouldn't cheer and watch this Mondial. (Because if your Nation isn't part of this World Cup then it doesn't make sense for you to watch and cheer other teams).

Also by your silly theories, one shouldn't support a Football club, and don't try with the "But they have Foreigners", NT's have Foreigners too and some players come originally from some where else so if you want to play the Nation thing, watch your goddamn local league and stop cheering or supporting for Juventus or the good football Barcelona play because if you're not Spanish and if you don't roll on the Catalan's floor 5x a week, Sunday you're forgiven because it's Church's day, then you shouldn't watch them or cheer for them.

From now on, if Andy cheers for any team playing England, then I will label him as a fanboy and will remind him that the US players aren't on the field.

If he picks a side in Euros like he did in 2008, 2004 then I will remind him that the US aren't part of the European continent and that he's a fanboy.

If it's all about papers then this is a very sad case we are talking about. I'm sure some of you are aware that the Americans do NOT need any citizenship to live/work in Italy or any other European country. Which makes all this papers, citizenship, passport thing worth nothing but a penny.

And another thing, if I support X I'm a fanboy and if you support Y you're cheering for them?

Someone tell me the difference between supporting and cheering or are we playing on words here?

National teams should not have foreign coaches. If they do, then they are cheating  A national team is a country's pride. Of the country, for country('s fans), by the country('s citizen* as manager.)

*Passport not necessary

so here it is (my case):
-if romania loses a crucial game: i would throw away my tv..started screaming and cursing..go out and talk about it a week with my friends
-if brazil loses a crucial game: i would curse..i would be sad but i would get over it quickly..

-if romania wins something important: i would go on the streets where it would be total madness
-if brazil wins it: i won't say "we win it" but "brazil won it"...no streets, no stress...

so this is the difference between cheering and supporting something imo..it's all about the passion and the intensity and the actions you make after/before/during the match
