Specifically New yorkers:

If somebody claims to be from new york (over the internet) and lives there could this be a legit response (in the realms of believability, and not some liar who has no idea)

I say: I stayed on 48th Avenue. Do you know it?

response: No I don't know, I live on the other side of the city

Then:

I ask: Do you like hells kitchen? The architecture there is magnificent!

response: yes I like it too. i was there few times, but I don't know that region very well

Now, from the response given, could it be legit that he is still a new yorker with those responses?

quite frankly, there are place in queens that i've never been too as well.

What you have to take into account is that New York City is absolutely huge.

And travelling through new york city, whether it is by car, subway, or taxi, is an adventure in and of itself.

I know someone who lived in Brooklyn and he told me flat out, that he would never go to Manhattan unless he absolutely had to

NYC isn't "huge"-- its alot of places crammed into a tiny area.

houston and jacksonville are huge cities (in terms of sq miles)
