Actually Africa is facing an epidemic of obesity. Also in the States obesity is often linked with poverty.
As for the actual debate: it is quite clear that this World Cup should never have been assigned to Qatar. Now that is has been, that decision should be revoked. Qatar bought their way to the decision, slaves will be used when constructing the stadium and the climate simply doesn't allow football. Each of those facts is enough basis to overrule the decision on itself, but combined they make for a very compelling argument.
