Puyol sees future away from Barcelona
tribalfootball.com - March 5, 2005

Barcelona skipper Carles Puyol has rejected the idea of signing a contract for life at the Nou Camp.

Barca president Joan Laporta has put forward the proposal of tying the club's best players to long-term deals, but Puyol is against the move.

"To play for Barça brings with it much pressure, there are many external factors that cause a player to undergo that pressure," explained Puyol.

"I feel calm, but I cannot say that I'm going to finish my sporting career wearing the Barcelona shirt, because I do not want to close the doors to other teams.

"For that reason, if they offered a long-term contract to me, I would not sign it."

Puyol has been in dispute with the Laporta regime over his £3.75 million-a-year contract, which is out of step with the club's current wage structure.

Okay, I know there is a load of crap with Tribalfootball, but imagine if there is any truth in this, we might have a chance ;) Imagine a deal like this: Tacchinardi+Tudor+cash for Puyol :D

Yes thats a great deal. Barcelona hand us the best spanish CB in exchange for a mediocre midfielder and a defender that spends more time out injured then he does in. They will really accept that!

Puyol is unhappy with 3.75 million pounds? Damn...

Could be afford him?
NO, we need cheaper defenders at the moment. We have to spend for Cassano and some attacking midfielder.

Puyol is not going to leave Barca any time soon. And if Puyol demands a pay raise he will certainly get one because he is their captain and only world class defender.

Puyol wont leave Barca, and if by any chance he does, Juve by no stretch of imagination can better a 3.75 mil a year salary. So if his future is away from Barca, it in all probability is at Madrid or maybe Chelsea.

That's exactly what I was thinking. And that's 3.7 million pounds too...

Unless of course, Puyol realizes that playing for the best club in our Galaxy (Juventus) is worth getting less money.
