The ps3 on paper is a better system spec wise, this however doesn't mean that its a better console. Consoles are made for games, ps3 has been lacking an abundance of quality games for awhile. Yes there's metal gear solid 4, and uncharted. But those 2 are the only games that stand tall. The 360 has twice as much games and a whole array of killer titles. What it lacks in technology (Not much behind the ps3) is compensated by games, and xbox LIVE, the best online service available.
Nintento lost because they didnt support piracy and xbox because they were 5 years late, but in the late days, these two consoles presented much better games, graphically, way beyond ps2's limits.
The dif between 360 and ps2 isnt that big, there is dif type of competition now, within 2 years from now, the gap will be closed.
I dont know about you, but i will only invest once and i dont want to regret this decision, i am cant afford to buy two next gen consoles since my priority is the PC platform. I want my console to complete what my pc cant.
So if the PS3 can provide me with a cheap blue ray player and exclusivities i will never get the chance to play on the PC. With the added fact that in the future the better specs will provide a bit better games too, then i think the PS3 is the wisest choice.
But i ll personally, wait on-two more years, just to be sure
By then the PS3 will be unlocked, i will have a full HD screen,
Resistance 2, God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5 and other excl beauties will be available, for the 100GB slip PS3, with the new motion sensored-wireless pad included. As a bonus the PES 2011 will start looking much better than the 360 version
You're right when you say blue ray is for the future, but most people today don't even know what blue ray mean or don't have blue ray players nor HDTVS. This technology will blossom but its certainly not now (its later rather than sooner), because as you know both consoles are reaching their 3rd life cycle. And even if the ps3 proves somehow proves that its superior to the 360 graphically ( games), and blue ray penetrates the market and replaces DVDs. Microsoft will release a new console much better technologically than the ps3. This is not even a speculation, MS is currently working on a after 360 project, set to be released sometime during 2010.
Sony only regret it to rush once, they wont repeat the same mistake for the shake of it. They might lose supremacy if they do.
They bet that this time they would be the late starter, just to ensure tech supremacy, the major xbox advantage, but now they lost the game variety and advantage they had. They fight hard to change that by not unlocking the PS3, holding its sales and motivate game producers to make better games for them, since they guarantee they wont lose profit from piracy. The situation is bound to change because of that slowly but surely. The new dev tools and exclusive games will solidify that.
Sony have underestimated their competition this time around, they relied on features rather than benefits, and their brand name. They have made countless mistakes along the way, something they might regret especially during the next generation of consoles.
but it isnt Sony's empire had already a vast fan base and influence between games companies, enough to afford such a bold move and reckless.
If they were losing the HD front or the exclusive deals, they wouldnt be able to bounce back. But they will now, its inevitable, if PS3 has a sure advantage, is the quality over time and the worst part has already passed
and the casualties are slowly being fixed and the situation is turning to their favor, even in the US soil!!
Thats impressive, if Sony gains the upper-hand under those circumstances, then the situation will be irreversable.
IMO, the situation is a bless for the customers, we are the ones who will profit from this competition!
