oil clubs are the worst thing that could happen to football though. there should not be a basically unlimited amount of money at the disposal of any club
What's the difference between a club being bought from oil money, or one being funded by car producers like us, or by political ties under a dictator like Real getting economic benefits or by a wealthy media owner like Berlusconi did with AC Milan. Most successful clubs had a wealthy owner and unfair advantages (be it by money or political power) at some point in its history. Probably the same applies for other businesses as well.

As a Jjuventus fan we're okay with the Agnelli/FIAT family pumping money into this club but think Sheikh Mansour's petro dollars aren't similar.

I agree with you to a certain extent, my gripe with the Sheikh way is their style, there are degrees to this, these guys dealing are vulgar in their nature. It's all plastic, fake, and in very bad taste: just like Dubai.

Berlusconi/Agneli used their own money not state infinite pool money. You cannot compete with state owned company's. Even Abramovich had connection with russian state, he would be even richer if he could "breach" aluminum industry, but every week someone got poisened, he backed out.

this, plus there are levels to the wealth of the owners. state funded clubs shouldn't exist. wealthy owners always existed in football and it's normal, but qatari and saudi ownership completely flipped the script

they also don't give a crap about rules. i'm 99% sure that if everton committed the same financial tricks that city did, they'd be already relegated to the lowest possible division. meanwhile the pl has been sleeping on the city case for a while

i'll always root against city and psg, unless they play against inda

Terrible, terrible league. With just 2-3 exceptions, we're watching teams stacked with talentless fast and strong black players, just running around and kicking the ball. It's a different kind of boring compared to serie A, but just as boring, or even worse.
I watched Chelsea V Fulham.

Shit quality football. Total snoozefest only made interesting by the two absolutely atrocious VAR decisions.

I’m so bored of football these days. Like you said, there’s a distinct lack of creativity and creative players, they’ve been largely replaced by talentless athletes who do nothing but press all day.

The story changes, but the reality doesn’t: all three clubs rely(ied) on massive capital to dominate football. City and Chelsea found a new model later on though, Juventus didn't and went from scandal to scandal and its owners decide to focus on F1. It was just in different times, and the Semites of City and Slavs at Chelsea were willing to put more money in it and quicker. That's why the Prem grew, and Serie Zzz isn't growing.

I still think there's too much bias in this. FIAT has a history of making war vehicles for Mussolini and had financial support at some point in its history. It;s also goverment backing. It helped the company and the family to become richer. Exor nowadays is located in my beloved Amsterdam because of tax reasons. It's not a charity organization by any means.

I've seen these messages over and over again. I personally think we look at the Agnelli's different just because they wore fancy pin striped suits in the pictures and were sipping on espresso's we consider them more classy than a Sheikh with a djaleba on sipping tea and not showing his wife or a Slav looking like a bond villain with no fashion sense. People conflate the origin of money with the legitimacy of the club’s success, even if all three clubs are heavily funded from ultra-rich owners. All three have dirty money and rich owners, making it a bit hypocritical.

Is it possible that JJ fleeced a club for a change?

The agreement further entails the obligation for Nottingham Forest to acquire the player’s registration rights on a permanent basis upon the occurrence of certain conditions during the 2025/2026 football season. :scared:
