Some stories floating the idea of Mourinho taking over at man utd, should they decide to sack Amorim.

Seriously Man utd are such a joke, imagine bringing in Amorim mid season as they did last year, when he wanted to come in the summer instead, only to think about sacking him at the start of this season after a heavy summer of investments.

have you seen amorim's post match interview after the penalty shootout loss to that 4th division (???) side? he's completely broken and has zero control over the squad. he's 99% destined to fail this season too

i'm not saying mourinho would be better. i think that utd has a similar identity and management crisis than jj. fortunately for them, they have money - but they are still a hot mess, and my guess is that replacing the coach and the coach only wouldn't solve literally anything. they lost their identity and that's a management thing.

my hot take is that jj will have a good team full of next gen players before united buys their way into having a top4 team again without a management overhaul. both are unlikely, but united's current strategy is completely hopeless. at least it's fun to watch

I cant help but laugh at what Amorim said at the end of last season about the storm being over and good times ahead... 3 matches in as you say he looks lost after a summer of heavy investment. Something in the water in Manchester, no matter what they do, who they hire and fire, buy and sell its the same result.

They refuse to get rid of the cancer. In their case it's Luke Shaw, who joined very soon after they won their last EPL trophy.
Just like Juve and McKennie.

The moment these two leave, United and Juve will be big again.

Luke Shaw is the same problem we have with Lloyd Kelly, He's left footed so he can play LCB.

Timber Gabriel Saliba Calafiori
White Kiwior Hincapie Zinchenko (Lewis Skelly)

Prime Italian clubs in the 90's didn't even have that quality and depth in the back four

Why are the EPL teams paying more when they buy from Bundesliga, compared to Serie A?
Is it because Bundesliga football is considered closer in pace and physicality to EPL, so players are seen as less risky imports, while many Serie A talents flopped badly in England and find it harder to adjust to the style?

Pretty much. More BL players have successfully transitioned into PL than Serie A players.

And as I mentioned before, BL players put up better numbers in general compared to Serie A and that has everything to do with the style of football. Only Atalanta in Serie A has successfully emulated Bundesliga model.

Do they really ? There also have been plenty of big money Bundesliga flops… Nkunku, Keita, Werner, Sancho, Harvertz and Gvardiol - I can think of.

Some have been ok from that list but def not worth the 90-100 mil paid.

Of course there will be flops but in general, Bundesliga players have found more success than Serie A players.

Alternatively, most BL teams have young-ish squads which means a bigger talent pool to choose from as PL teams tend to purchase players 24/25 and under.

There has to be a reason. I'm just putting numbers here, without a real proof, but it looks like when an EPL team is buying player A from Bundesliga he'll cost 60m, and if he's bought from serie A he'll cost 35-40m.
It can't be only about the ability of the BL directors to sell, and the inability of their serie A counterparts to do the same.

Nah you’re 100% right with the analysis but I’m just not sure they really do that much better. But I guess it’s down to what Xperd said about younger and hype.

Italy hardly produces any talent or if they do only start to use them in their mid twenties. These Bundesliga players tend to be younger and more hyped.

Hype is a big thing. Once a country or a league has reputation for developing players then it affects the negotiating position of all of the teams in that league.

Does the way German clubs are owned also affect these decisions, or are they entirely governed by the BOD/SD?

What a shitty penalty to concede

Union getting some early help. Looks like its going to be a comfortable win for them.
