This looks really out of context. When did he play 18 games against Arsenal? Was he a starter? How old was he?

There isn't a trend in these numbers either even of they were somehow true and representative of his more recent years.
the trend is pretty obvious, low scoring numbers against top teams.

Feel free to dig deeper into the numbers, they clearly tell a story of Lukaku being ineffective against too teams.

What's with all these medical emergencies going on in this league now? Like every few matches there is a stoppage as some fan is in trouble.
According to some, it’s the vaccines :lol3:

yeah, serie a isn’t what it used to be unfortunately. He feasted on all the minnows and thrived under Conte who has players drilled to do their task. Give Lukaku more of a free role which is how top teams tend to play and he’ll flop.
He also scored 1 penalty goal (he didn’t win the penalty) in 4 matches against us during his time in Serie A. Completely shut down by Bonucci. And Bonucci kept him in his pocket in the Euro QFs again this summer. He’s a very consistent striker against mediocre sides which is helpful for winning league titles, but doesn’t really offer a lot against top level teams.

For a guy who burst onto the scene at the age of 16. That inflates the number of appearances against top teams and ignores his development over the years.

Looking just at his 2 seasons at Inter you'll see he was scoring against many of the big teams no problem. Its his years at United where he wasnt scoring often in general and is no secret that he seriously struggled there overall. Go back to his spell at Everton or even Westbrom you again find him scoring against City, Spurs, Leicester, United and others.

2019/20:

Scored home and away against Milan.
Scored 2 against Napoli away.
Scored against Roma away

Scored against Barca (home), injured in the away leg
Scored 2 and assisted against Shaktar in the Semifinal of Europa League. Scored against Getafe and Bayer Leverkusen before that.
Scored against Sevilla in the final of Europe League

2020/2021:

Scored against Italy, England & France with his national team.
Scored against Fiorentina
Scored against Milan home and away (and assisted)
Scored twice and assisted against Lazio at home
Scored against Napoli
Scored and assisted against Roma
Scored against Juventus
Scored against Fiorentina and Milan in the cup.

Like I said, misleading stats if you dont include the context that most of these appearances were when he played for West Brom and Everton, and that he really struggled at United.

@Hist

So you’re saying he has only succeeded for Everton and westbrom, exactly what I said. He’s a mid table player. Inter is a mid table team too if you consider all of Europe. Now that he went back to Chelsea, he’s finding his ass benched because he’s not effective.

you literally agree with me

He sucks in big games, I’ve seen enough of Lukaku to be sure about it.

Is the race over with a Chelsea victory/draw in tonights game?

It could seem so. Liverpool with a loss will be 12 points behind, even with a game in hand is that just too much against this City side. And Chelsea even if they win don't grind out results like City.
