Yeah that's true.
The Premier League gave the response:
"The red card was for endangering the safety of a player, which was caused by the initial challenge".
That's absolute rubbish. It's a retrospective punishment, nothing else. If the statement was true you might as well make football a non-contact sport, or restrict players to light jogging as a maximum speed. Doesn't work. Any other situation it's a yellow card (which the ref has in his hand), player falls over and gets up.
Has to be said though, these things tend to happen more in the PL because of the speed of the game.
