How do Spurs have that much money to spend on a stadium?
One of the 10 richest clubs in world football. Player wages are less than 50% of turnover. Net average spend of just £400k on transfers over last five years (less than Burnley, Huddersfield and Stoke). Huge TV revenues for playing in PL. High attendance at matches etc.

Spurs are not poor. This is what the 'austerity' has been gearing towards.

Overrated $#@! sport imo, never understod that hype around it. And that they dare to call it “football” when they use their $#@!ing hands 99% of the time
We'll glady take their money though.

Liverpool dint need that. EPL doesn't depend on CL money as much as other leagues do.
If they want to reach the next level they need to build on what they've accomplished thus far and not regress, Liverpool is different because they were a successful club with a large fanbase. It's not about CL money, but about fame, reputation, and improving one club's reach.

Years ago Aston Villa and Everton were up there and were replaced. I'm not saying they were at Spurs level, but it's more important for less successful club to achieve important positions higher up if they want to remain up there

Agreed. They definitely need to win some silverware to reach a top club status and widen their international reach but as far as pure numbers go, the difference between Juve and Spurs last year was marginal. We reached a final and Spurs got knocked out of the groups. Now imagine them with their new stadium and all their other sponsorships they have with NFL etc. By and large , their results on the pitch will determine their overall growth as a club but we also can't ignore the fact that the PL brand is a different beast altogether so the money will keep coming no matter what unless Spurs completely regresses and turns into a West Ham level club. Hard to see that at this point but I think the foundations have been laid for them to become a relevant English club in the future IMO.

Well, hopefully it all goes well. Only time will tell.

At least when some clubs were throwing the PL TV £millions at inflated transfer fees, we decided instead to build a £1bn stadium, training facilities and player lodge; and to focus on youth development. Some fans might have preferred we push out the boat on wages and marquee players, and there's merit in that, we might have won the PL at least once in the last couple of years - but if the PL TV bubble bursts, we're safe. Some aren't (*cough* Liverpool). But then again, they are in CL Semis, so...

Fingers crossed we've made the right choice.

Impossible to say, but estimates are around £750m to £1bn. Club borrowed £400m to be paid off in five years (thank you PL TV revenue!)
y, that's quite ugly for a 1bn project :p surely an improvement on White Hart Lane, but still ugly compared to most new stadiums built around the world

but congrats on doing this now, definitely a better choice to build a stadium than overpay 3 and 4 times for average players like most of EPL does. I remember Arsenal fans talking about how their club will spend big after their payments for Emirates Stadium are done, that obviously didn't work out well :D

I don't know about that but Spurs will be a richer club than Juve shortly , perhaps even for the forseeable future
You just love to constantly repeat the same shit, don't you? Would you please remind us what players Juve cannot afford and to which English clubs they are headed? We haven't read about this enough.

Tottenham is a joke compared to Juventus.
