Again... Where did I say I didnt care... Be interesting to know how many of the deeply offended actually were up at dawn today to attend mass??
Chances are not many... Yet I the supposed uncaring that you make out... Was
I was counting down the minutes until this was thrown in my face and you are right on time. I won't bother replying to it because it circles around my personal stance on religion and that's a rather big issue. Nor is this the place for it. But thank you nonetheless for keeping consistent while playing the role of protector of free speech in the most random contexts on this forum.

There was no disrespect in this thread... A comment that someone doesnt care and a take that he is jus another man... sorry but theres no disrespect there and everyone is entitled to air their view anyway.
Right and I suppose if you were to appear on CNN in 1963 right after the JFK assassination and argue that JFK was just a regular Joe and you could care less about his death, that wouldn't be at all disrespectful to all the people who held him in high regard, would it? Not at all undermining them? I already quoted Zlatan's post as exhibit B and gave you the funeral analogy, there's really nothing more to explain, if you don't understand it from that, that's just too bad.

If you start a thread about something on a public forum... then you are in essence asking for peoples opinions on that subject... Whether those opinions are ones you agree with has no relevence what so ever
No that's incorrect. When someone opens a thread about how great Del Piero is, it's entirely possible that his intention was to attract others of the same mind to create a club as opposed to replay of the DP vs Baggio epic. This is a community where people keep showing up to spend time with each other, it is nowhere stated that every thread is always for the purpose of intense debate, just as often people just want to relax and spend time among people they enjoy debating with. It is understood that just about anyone who has been active on a forum for over a month would recognize this thread for what it is in the tone that it was started.

Looking around various forums today... I have seen many threads with those very comments in them and this is the only forum i have seen people get offended by them... Most of them turned those comments into a worthy discussion about the pope and what he has done in his life.
As it happens, I've seen similar threads myself today in a fairly sizeable forum (80k users) and it basically degenerated into a flamewar thanks to members desperately wanting to express their lack of respect.
At its core, any discussion can be had with any two points of view as long as the parties are committed to mutual respect. This is so basic and obvious that I shouldn't have to tell you this, just because on some other forum people were able to debate in a civil manner from different points of view doesn't make it a rule that it's always so.

The most offensive posts in this thread have been those saying others opinions are worthless and looking down on people with different views... Not to mention some stuff in the last couple of pages that it is very disrespectful to have in such a thread as this.
Well then perhaps you should engage those people instead of making this a rebuttal to me. I did not express myself in that manner as I do not share that view.

Its also interesting that this is hammered as disrespectful... yet over the years there has been a continuous flow of nationalistic, anti-religious, rascist and homophobic comments that generally pass without comment...
Not too mention one member that had a racist banner as their avatar not so long ago without question
Quite. And since you are well aware of my stand on this because I've expressed it numerous times, I shall decline to repeat it.
If the latin was for my benefit then I'm afraid it was a wasted effort as I do not read latin.
