Damien exploded onto the English scene as an 18 year old, winning man of the match on his debut, and lighting up Blackburn with his dribbling ability. However, Blackburn were religated that year, and Damien's development slowed. A couple of seasons ago, however, he got his act together, and helped them get promoted back into the EPL.

Initially, his return to the top flight was unspectacular. He was a key player for Blackburn, but the team was struggling. His form was uneven, and finally, his manager lost patience with him, and he found himself dropped. On his return to the team, he was a changed player. Gone was the inconsistancy that plagued his early career, and instead we had a Duff who grew into the role of Blackburn's saviour. Despite rumours of transfers to Man Utd or Liverpool, Duff was priced too high, and he remained at Blackburn last season.

His World Cup was impressive, and he wound up in the team of the tournament, despite playing out of position up front for most of the competition. In fact, it was in the Republic of Ireland's last game, against Spain, that he was at his best. With the team a goal down, ageing icon Niall Quinn was introduced, pushing Duff onto the right wing - still out pof position, but more to his liking. The effect of the change was immediate, and he began to terrorise the Spanish defense, who resorted to fouling him whenever they could get close enough. In the end, his heroics weren't enough, and Ireland went out on penalties, to renewed rumours of transfers to the top Engish teams.

He spent the year putting himself in the shop window, and dragged Blackburn by the scruff of the neck into fifth place in the league, and an UEFA Cup slot, frequently winning games all on his own. Again, it seemed that Man Utd and Liverpool would snap him up, and again he was priced out of their estimates. Roman Abramovich doesn't do estimates, and Duff has duely become a key part of the Chelski revolution.

Duff isn't blessed with the blistering pace of a Thierry Henry or a Ryan Giggs, but he does have that trick of gliding past defenders as if they weren't there. His crossing is excellent, and he's recently added goal-scoring to his arsenal of skills, but what really makes Duffer special is when you see him run at a defense.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a video of Duff? I can't find anything through google, but it's hard to sift through the porn and other junk when I don't know where to look.
