Berlusconi did the impossible with Monza and reached the Serie A for the first time in Monza's history. A historic win 4-3 win against Claudio Chiellini's Pisa. Beruatto and Mota (ex-U23, Monza) with both two assists. Marrone scored a decisive goal for Monza, while Birindelli (son of) and Lorenzo Lucca didnt impress for Pisa.
Somehow by accident a saw this battle full with sentiment and passion, Pisa hasnt been in Serie A for 31 years either.
The club was founded in 1912 as Monza F.B.C. and on multiple occasions in the 1960s and 1970s came close to promotion to the Serie A. Following Silvio Berlusconi's 2018 takeover of the club, Monza returned to the Serie B in 2020 after a 19-year absence, and came close to Serie A promotion in 2021. Monza have won the Coppa Italia Serie C four times, the most of any club as of 2022. They have also won four Serie C championships and an Anglo-Italian Cup. The club has never reached the Serie A and has competed in 40 Serie B seasons as of the 2021–22 season, the most of any Italian club without ever achieving promotion to the first division.[1]
