And his style would compliment Giorgio's really.
You reckon?

I want someone calm, sensible and with some footballing ability to partner Chiellini.

Mexes has some footballing ability, but I don't see that he fits the other requirements.

Mexes is also prone to being rash and too aggressive, just the same as Chillini is.

In fact, Mexes has played the role of partner to the leader of the defence (with both Chivu and Juan), rather than being the leader and organiser Juve need.

In fact, now I think about, it really wouldn't be hard for someone to convince me that Mexes would be bought to replace Chiellini, rather than partner him.

Dusan has been trying his best to do that. Chiellini is packing has bags for Madrid apparently.

Actually, we've hit upon something that worries me about next season.

We won't have a proper leader of the defence, or even anyone in front of it with a particularly cool head (Melo/Sissoko), unless Poulsen stays and starts. :D :juventus:

Bonucci, though I haven't seen much of him, is fairly composed, and was he not the organiser when playing with Ranocchia?

And Legrottaglie is okay at it.

You're right about Bonucci I think but it's asking an awful lot for him to step into that role for a big club.

Legro is good at it but see my other post about him.

Legro is a neat defender but he is still inconsistent.

He can completely shut out Madrid on a good day and then get schooled by Catania a few days later.

I know. It was an overstatement. It was very good though. Much better than Cannavaro - Chiellini ever was.
Yes but Chiellini - Cannavaro was only our CB partnership during one of Juve's worst ever seasons.

At the beginning of the season, before our season started to go downhill, it was very solid.

Not much better.

Chiellini and Cannavaro suffered from Juve trying to play in a more open fashion.

Under Ranieri, Juve squeezed the play and had Sissoko charging around midfield, which meant they had much better protection.
