Cannavaro showed again the Pessottino flag during his interview. He said he asked a friend in Napoli to make it and he went to pick it from him after the match. (Again, if you find the pic, tell me)

After Del Piero, Ferrara, Zambrotta (he dedicated the goal and victory to Gianluca too), Chimenti, Balzaretti, Elkann, Moggi, Bettega, Giraudo, the Juve's management (and surely some others)

Paolo Montero has arrived directly from Uruguay to visit Gianluca Pessotto, recovered in reanimation at the Molinette hospital. The ex-bainconero defender, before entering in Pessotto's room he shared a memory: "When we were on the field he was the only one that could scold me and now it's my turn to give him a 'shake'". And directly from Germany, from WC2006 arrived Stephen Appiah that told to have been told about the tragedy after the match by the journalists and immediately decided that he would have gone to Torino to visit his friend Gianluca"

(there have been messages also from Tacchinardi, Torricelli, Di Livio, Porrini, Iuliano -who reached Montero to tell him what happened-. They have been advised to wait a couple of days before going to visit)

What Zambrotta said after the match:

"Tonight our strength came from Gianluca, who we hope is able to come back from what he's gone through," Zambrotta said. "We're standing by Gianluca and his family and we want him to return and celebrate with us soon."

Right after the match, Italy's players unfurled an Italian tricolor with the inscription "Pessotto we are with you."

Former Juventus Coach Lippi clearly had a special dedication in his mind going into this game after Gianluca Pessotto was taken to hospital following an apparent suicide attempt. There were moving scenes at the final whistle, as the players showed flags cheering on ‘Pessottino’.

“We have to try with all our strength and heart. Speaking of that, the lads and I dedicate this victory to Gianluca Pessotto. We are close to him and his family and hope he can soon come back to celebrating with us.”

Some words by Reana (his wife) today:

"I want to thank all the people, and they are a lot, that in these difficult days are showing their love for Gianluca and for our family. Federica and Benedetta, that yesterday sent some pictures to their dad, are strong girls".

Banners, presents in the hospital, but especially a quantityof letters, e-mail and faxes: "You support -added Reana Pessotto- woth the messages full of gratefulness and attachment to him and all the solidaritydemonstrations, help us and give us the strenght to face these moments. Thanks again with all my heart".

---------

She was also filmed while she took pictures with her phone of the banners outside the hospital. I hope she will be able to show them to him soon.

Forza Gianluca, forza Reana!

Appiah also came to visit Pessottino:

Montero runs to Pessotto
Saturday 1 July, 2006
Gianluca Pessotto’s plight has moved all his former teammates, as Paolo Montero and Stephen Appiah have flown in to be by his side.

The recently retired full-back, who had been appointed Juventus Team Manager only a month ago, is fighting for his life after falling from a window at the club headquarters in an apparent suicide attempt on Tuesday morning.

Azzurri trio Alessandro Del Piero, Gianluca Zambrotta and assistant manager Ciro Ferrara broke away from their World Cup commitments for a few hours to see their friend and now more colleagues are coming in to Turin.

“When we were on the field, Gianluca was the only teammate who could tell me off. Only he had permission to give me a talking to,” revealed Paolo Montero (pictured). “Now it’s my turn to shake him out of it.”

Former Juve hardman Montero flew in directly from Uruguay last night to visit the Molinette hospital, where Pessotto is still kept in an induced coma to help him through the three operations he has sustained since the fall. There are reports he opened his eyes this afternoon after his medication was lowered.

Stephen Appiah has also arrived after Ghana’s elimination from the World Cup. “I heard what happened from the journalists after the game. I wanted to come because he is a real friend and we often spoke even after I left Juve.”

The Azzurri all dedicated last night’s 3-0 quarter-final victory over the Ukraine to Pessotto and waved a flag with the message: 'Forza Pessottino, we’re all with you.’

This morning the fans took up that sentiment and chanted Pessotto’s name as the players ran out for their training session in Duisburg.

They lowered the drug level and he opened his eyes (and cried, according to a couple of sourches).
It doesn't change anything of his situation, though.

Anyway: Forza Pessottino!
