A tall and speedy centre-back, Pepe left his native Brazil at the age of 18 and was soon being touted as one of the most promising defenders in the Portuguese SuperLiga.

Club
Started his career as a professional in the 1999/00 season at the age of 16 with Brazilian third division club Corinthians Alagoano SC. After two campaigns as part of the first team, he headed to Europe to sign for CF Marأ*timo.

2001: Most of Pepe's first season at Mar*timo was spent with the club's second string, although he did enjoy four first-team outings. The outlook was rosier the following term, however, as he made 27 starts and things got even better in 2003/04. His consistency as Marأ*timo finished sixth drew attention from all-conquering FC Porto who enticed Pepe north with the offer of a four-year contract.

2004/05: Although he failed to establish himself as a regular in the first XI, Pepe did manage to score one goal in 15 league appearances as Porto finished runners-up in the SuperLiga. He also played his part in the UEFA Champions League, helping his team to reach the last 16.

Juve push for Pepe Wednesday 28 February, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reports from Spain suggest that Juventus have made an offer for FC Porto defender Pepe, as they look to strengthen in anticipation of a return to Serie A.

Pepe – whose full name is Kleper Laveran Lima Ferreira – turned 24 on Monday and has been a pivotal figure at the heart of the Dragons’ defence since the departure of Ricardo Carvalho in 2004.

According to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, the Old Lady have already made an approach for the ex-Corinthians defender, even if they may face competition from Real Madrid.

Juventus continue to seek reinforcements at the back despite boasting the best defensive record in Serie B, having only conceded 15 times this term.

Coach Didier Deschamps has already admitted an interest in luring Manchester United stopper Gabriel Heinze, but Pepe would fulfil a different role as he is adept at centre-back or as a right-back.

The Bianconeri are also said to be lining up a move for giant Serbian striker Nikola Zigic of Racing Santander and Sevilla marksman Frederic Kanoutè.

I dont know much about Pepe. I just hope they aren't serious about Kanoute. We need Quality not Quantity.

What do you guys know about Pepe? How much, How Good, Physical Attributes, Play Style.

I've wanted Pepe at Juve since the first time I saw him play. He is big, yet pacey and technical. He also strikes me as very determined and focused every time he plays.

I have only seen him play four times though.

If we want to battle next year I would say we should go for Pepe. What about these 4 in our defence: Grygera;Pepe;Luisao/Cannavaro,Chiellini.
