Completely agree; love the player, but enough is enough. He buried from the six yard box, on an opportunity that was basically laid out on a silver platter. Get over it fanboys.
We all know that Pavel still has a brilliant flash here and there, but he is certainly not effective enough to play such heavy minutes - he disappears for huge periods of the game, can't take on defenders, and his shots are, for the most part, repugnant momentum killers.
Unfortunately, when Del Piero has to come ALL the way back to collect the ball, it drastically limits our effectiveness going forward (Especially Amauri's - it's hard to combine with the support striker when he's basically forced to drop behind our central mids to collect the ball).
We have got NOTHING on the flanks right now, and it's killing us. Marchionni, Nedved, Grygera/Mellberg, and Molinaro should all basically be second choice in a team of Juventus' stature. Of course, many of us have been saying this for 2 seasons or so...
We have a couple great target men, and no one to cross the ball to them. I always had an uneasy sense that our success in the first half would blind our management to what are actually pressing needs. Remember after the first rough stretch, when Blanc and Cobolli were saying that they would definitely enter the winter market for a player or two? Fucking hell, could we ever use another first choice Full Back, and a replacement for Pavel...
