Maybe its time to recognize he is not a freakin midfielder. When on form he has enough technique to coast by but it is not at all his position.

Play him as FW or sell
He wasn’t a midfielder today, he was in a front 2 with Kean. Still decided to walk around the midfield like a ghost all match.

If he wants to play as a forward in this team, he needs to figure out how to play alongside other goalscorers and help create chances for them too.

by playing him as a FW
He still drops back. He was in a 2 man attack today.

1 shot on goal today? That's all I can recall.

Dybala would be world class for us if we'd play our old 2-man attack or even a 4-2-3-1. Ever since we switched formation to a 4-3-3 he has been absolute crap, because he has been forced to play out wide and out of position. Tonight he played in a 4-4-2, but I'd take it out of equation due to our absolute crap XI and overall motivation levels. If you look at our Young Boys match, Dybala scored a hat-trick when he finally got to play in his preferred 3-5-2. Allegri also has the habit of making attackers look pretty crap due to tactical preferences of keeping the formation solid and allowing very little creativity in attack.

Dybala has world class talent, that is evident from his past 3 seasons bar this one, but he won't be able to shine for us if we keep playing the 4-3-3 as our main formation. I think for all parties included it would be best to sell Dybala if he wishes to showcase his talent somewhere else and if Allegri insists on us keeping this playstyle. Considering the fact that all CL winners in past 5 years have played the 4-3-3 and Paratici himself has wet dreams of playing Ramsey as mezzala, I don't see us switching formations.

I don't even think Max knows, anymore.

Surely, the problem is becoming more apparent now to Tuzzers?
I believe the biggest issue is the same reason Madrid got rid of Higuain and kept Benzema... Dybala is not the forward to receive the ball and lay it off to Ronaldo. That’s not his game. He’s not the forward to play second fiddle to Ronaldo and create chances for him. Dybala here has become more the Ronaldo type who needs a strong CF partner to hold up play and lay the ball off to him, like Mandzu did in their first year here... or in one of the rare instances of Higgy-Dybala working, last year against Tottenham, laying the ball off to Dybala for the winning goal. It rarely happened the other way round, Dybala putting Higgy through on goal.

So how is that going to work with Ronaldo? I doubt Dybala as CF/9 would be ideal for the GOAT goalscorer. If we were still at Mandzukic/Dzeko type and level forward to partner Dybala, I’d be all for him leading the attack alongside such a player. But alongside Ronaldo, nah.

Bolded: Hard to do that when he is next to the CBs/CMs trying to get the ball.

I think be players better when Pjanci and Bonucci are in the team. He doesn't have to come as deep.

If we sign more creative midfields who can pass the ball forward we will get more from Dybala.

That said if nothing changes next summer then I can't stand to see any more of this he is too good and too valuable to be wasted on the bench.

I still think Dybala would be one of the best players in the world if he played false 9 for a team that plays tiki taka.
Meh. He hasn’t shown anything to suggest that imo. I don’t think he has the pace and strength for it. I think he’d destroy minnows, and get shut down fairly easily by good defensive teams as the focal point in attack.

I think he works best as a support striker beside a number 9 who has good hold up play and likes to lay the ball off, and in front of a creative passing CAM.
