When I pointed out to one of the Mandzu haters on the forum after Valencia match (was crying that we play terrible with Mandzu and he only scored tap-ins) that he had 5 tackles, 2 interceptions, alongside the winning goal... this tuzzer made it clear that defensive contributions from forwards were meaningless and shouldn’t be counted.
I think I got you. So when we don't have the ball our forwards should stand still and not interfere with play?

Until Allegri plays three forwards, they dont track back much, impossible to win ball back high up field midfield must back off to stay compact with D line = pussy catenaccio tactics.

You have to choose between Pussy catenaccio tactics or useless defensive forwards

It's a great trait if offensive players can track back and help defensively. Most of them dont have enough energy and save themselves for when it matters, in attacking phase of the game, running behind defenders, beating offside trap, counter attacks, etc... Mario isnt your typical goalacorer, 20-25 league goals per year, so without this trait I doubt he would play at top level for so many years. If I could choose, I prefer prolific goalscorer instead and all defensive effort in the game falls flat when you at times make 0 impact upfront, so I can understand critique of him in some games. :p But he is clutch af this season so we can turn a blind eye.

Dybala is playing different position this season, so those numbers are expected and means hes addapting well. I like him in this new role.

Whenever you're ready to step up and lead this team, just let us know.

It's amazing how quiet this thread is. It's almost like people are afraid to start acknowledging how poor he has been/is...

:howler: He was hardly the problem tonight. What do you want him to do? Make slalom runs from midfield. He is no Messi; he just isn't that caliber of player. Obviously, if he had a half decent midfield actually doing their fucking job, he might perhaps be able to focus on the other shit that he's supposed to be doing.

I do expect an improvement on his first touch. Half the time it's Lukaku level.

That, I can agree with. However, some members have ridiculous expectations. Ronaldo was even worse tonight. He was absolute shit.

Dybala is not a leader and he's not some Messi level talent. He's a very good player with a very specific skill-set.

ofcourse i'm afraid, because as soon as I say a bad word on him, the Young Boys or Chievo game happens and I look like a fool.

Aren't you surprised how early Dybala has reached his peak? It was in 2016, when he was 22, trully a phenomenon

Maybe go back to the 352 and keep him closer to goal.

lol peopel rave about a SINGLE shot he had on target saved by a goalie that another play scored the rebound on. The guy (not a kid anymore) needs to play and STAY closer to goal.
