There was a lot of good stuff in the game.

I would still consider that team to have been an assymetrical 3-5-2 rather than an assymetrical 4-3-3 - not that it really matters.

One way or another, it got a lot of players playing in something close to their best positions without unbalancing the team.

That's a lot of what you want from a system, whatever label you choose to slap on it.
