I can't help but believe that Dybala would be a far greater threat if he had someone creative playing behind him in an AM role. Cuadrado obviously is playing very well, but him beating players on the wing and then centering the ball isn't going to benefit Dybala as much as someone playing behind him and finding Paulo in space

Maybe. But imho Dybala's main strength is ability to operate in a tight space, he has great first touch and rapid decision-making. Paulo needs to play as 9 more, it's his natural and best-possible position.
Marotta/Zaza would benefit from AM much more than Dybala imho.
It being a WC qualifying match, not so sure he will get playing time. If he does it shouldn't be much more than 10-15 minutes. Or maybe he could impress on trainings and guarantee a starting spot?
