Came on, unbalanced the side, and we conceded again.

Seems we can’t have him and Ronaldo on the pitch at the same time, at least not if we want to remain capable of keeping the ball out of our own net.
I don't think he unbalanced the side, its just that Atletico wanted the win more than us, and our midfielders just really lacked the intensity and strength and Danilo effing up a lot didnt help at all, Dybala really looked sharp and he and CR7 should be playing a lot more together.. I really do hope Dybala - Cuads - CR7 can be seen a lot more together

He was actually fighting in defence. He even had a diving block that led to a corner. But then they scored on the corner. So I guess it really was Dybala's fault!

We conceded cuz this team can't play a full 90 mins under the tactics of sarri. Poor defending at set pieces..something that has plagued us for years now.

Dybala just needs to play consistently. Form isnt gainrd by gradule subs here or there. Give him a fair chance...3 or 4 starting games in a row will at least give him a full run for it.

If Higuain starts for the sake of Sarriball holding up the ball and feeding the wingers then perhaps we should've used Mandzukic because he's excellent at this. Mandzukic defending the set pieces would be an added bonus.

Since this CF position doesn't require shooting or scoring then I don't understand why Dybala doesn't play because his passing is superior to Higuain. The Burger King must be Sarri's son in law.

There is a lot of steps you skipped over there. Sarri's CF is not about holding up the ball, it's about linking up as a whole. Mandzukic was the worst fit because he is by far worse than the other 2 at it. Remember when Dybala was injured for a long time and we played Higuain-Mandzukic where Higuain was playing as the second striker? Because he is the much better player at that.

Dybala is technically better of course but he doesn't play on the CBs like Higuain does, he cant do the hold up the ball part. Higuain is the happy medium between Dybala and Mandzukic.

Dybala can be the CF, it just requires a restructuring of the tactics to adapt to the different interpretation of the role.

Atletico game aside, Higuain has been one of our best players this season.

I'm going to disagree. The ideal type for the Higuain role is Ibrahimovic. His hold up, passing, strength, dribbling and finishing is perfect for Sarriball. Higuain receives the ball from midfield and he just wants to pass it off. Dybala will turn and drive forward, usually getting a foul. Dybala running forward opens up space for the wingers, defenders won't give Dybala time because he has excellent long range shots as well.

Mandzukic played wing and was decent overall considering it's a odd role for him. The guy was also clutch in big games and bullied defenders. If the Higuain position doesn't need great striking ability then we should go all out for a playmaker and the closest we have to that is Ramsey and Dybala.

All of this comes from our problem last year of very low goal contribution from everyone other than Ronaldo. Each of the front three needs to be over 15 goals this year for us to be a force.

Is it though?

I think we all know it's not even close lol. And the willingness to pass is not really there either. Even if Higuain could have passed to Ronaldo, he still had the assist to Cuadrado. And in that instance he was waiting and waiting, knowing he could bring Juan into a good area. And I rarely see that instinct from Dybala.

Hopefully he will get a chance to start in the weekend. I still think a Ronaldo-Dybala-Costa frontline can be absolutly deadly.
That would be my dream setup. They would need time to get their routine, but in terms of speed, technique, shooting and unpredictability that could be deadly.

What we really lack at the moment (and for the last half year under allegri as well) is creativity going forward. We are way too slow and too predictable.

Honestly I think the predictability going forward is a tactical thing, I don't think we really threatened when we had possession but we looked good on the counter.
