I bet Adidas are starting to regret choosing Paul as their flag bearer
I dont think so

Outside of messi, ronaldo and neymar...he is still the most marketable entity

young black charismatic flashy french , in tune with pop culture etc.

Look at the rest of the PL stars and they are pretty boring - kane, de bruyne, salah....

salah could potentially get bigger but the demographic he appeals to is not adidas target audience

bad thing is though, that he's not living up to expectations on the pitch, he's not going to be a star much longer if he continues like this

Salah has only recently reached 'stardom.' He'll be a hero to all the viewers of the Middle East and Africa, so I expect him to overtake Pogba soon. As for Kane, the English press are excellent at hyping up their players, so I expect him to overtake Pogba as well. For Pogba, if he doesn't move soon, then his hype will fizzle out.

pogba appeals to a wider and more lucrative demographic than salah (for adidas products)

kane doesnt seem a very marketable product personality wise

If Dybala is smart, he'll stay with us.

By now, players should realize that we get the best out of them. We make them 20% better.
Well, from pogba's financial and status perspective, he still made a good move.

More money, more attention. Sure, bad performance is the drawback. But imagine having a job that pays you well for two years while performing badly, compared to a job that pays less while you perform over your quota.

As much as we fantasize that footballers will always love football, but tbh I'm sure many will end up loving that adrenaline rush from the money and the attention and the big games.

Serie A and Juventus does not guarantee that.

It's just higher salary. His status took a hit.

And with lesser "status" comes lesser marketing/ad deals.

Won't be surprised if he jumps ship.

His marketing status is still pretty much intact for now.
Right after he signed for man utd, his face were plastered on giant shopping mall buildings in Hongkong , representing adidas. That kinda money is something that dybala can't get right now.

When was the last time you saw a serie a player represented on a giant commercial poster outside of Italy?

Pogba may be playing bad now. Best move for him is to switch to another epl club that has midfield mentors for him. Man city will be good.
He can create another big hoohaa as a traitor.

His face was plastered everywhere because of his time with us. He was the most expensive ever player.

Come next move, it won't be as big a deal.

Anyone who tells you he has the same allure in 2018 has been living in a cave during his time at Utd.

He hasnt become irrelevant, he is still a big star, but he is not living up to the potential of becoming a super star tho. He is not willing to put in the work, and with low iq play style like his, it shows clearly what a massively well prepared and organised world class team you need to get the best out of supreme talent like him. Because thats what he remains, a talent, huge one, that thinks he can only coast by his skills if you dont have a guiding hand that limits his flaws/puts in a position to only excell at what he does best. Mourinho is NOT that guy, neither is is the quickly put together squad Man U has. So yes, he is getting paid well, and no he isnt lost his name, but its defenitely taking a hit on a footballing level. Because we saw this awful type of Pogba with us 2-3 months or so, until he simply took over games because he was given the support and freedom to be a HIGH impact luxury type of highlight reel player that gave us tons of wins, and insured he became most expensive ever. I dont think he is the type of personality who will ever mature more as a player despite the insane skillset he has (there is nothing he cant do in both directions), so he essentially he needs a set up like ours again.

And again, no alibis, but MOURINHO IS NOT THE COACH for player like him. He wasnt the coach for De Bruyne either, and so many others before him.

I can easily see Pogba going to Real or PSG and just taking over games in finald third like he did with us. Because something as simple as playing him in 3 man midfield and telling go roam, these guys will clean up after you lol. Deschamps didnt realize this either and used him in 2 man rigid CM duo, they are either blind to his tactical and football IQ type of flaw, or they dont think he is worth adjusting to. Either way, its silly. I think it took Conte like 2 games TOPS til he realized it was absolutely retarded to play Pogba in a static role, think he filled in for Pirlo as regista/DM couple times and looked completely clueless in that role. While with Allegri, one of the most devastating Pogba performances I seen is games he played AM infront of 2-3 CMs where allegri simply instructed him transport the ball forward, and he was a scary Yaya Toure esque freight train (think of those games were vs Torino).
