tbh this was a hernanes performance. He played the simple passing triangles with the defense and occasionally did the long ball forward that didnt go anywhere. Otherwise he just walked around. Even defensively he didn't stand out and was not aggressive at all. He played as if he was an unknown kid getting his debut trying not to fuck up by playing it very safe. Didn't dictate the tempo nor did he orchestrate the midfield.

At least now (from the tournament) we know he is not a DM. Box-to-box or CAM from now on. I am so glad we have pjanic to cover for marchisio. Pogba as regista/DM just doesnt work at the highest level.
Well I think we all knew it before this tournament that he isn't a regista the problem was that Deschamps didn't. Hernanes can only dream of performances like this one though both defensively and distribution wise. He isn't the reason France lost he was actually one of the players who was always looking to get on the ball, we've seen players like Krychowiak play these kind of games and everyone gets their panties wet the problem is Pogba is now a 100m player and everybody expects attacking brilliance sadly it wasn't possible today.

Right before the match started, Jose Mourinho contacted Deschamps and demanded he plays Pogba to play in a defensive role and none of the players to pass him the ball. Now Mourinho gets Pogba for about 20 million and he then spends the rest of the transfer budget on Neymar and Bale. Brilliant move by the special one.

he was expected to distribute the ball in this midfield as well as cover since Matuidi and Sissoko both love to go forward. he did great job at what was asked of him, couldnt go much forward since his role didnt allow it to him. cant believe some people, just waiting for a not amazing game to bash him

Vidal is the Messi of CM's

Messi of cm's
and we all know how bad Messi is nowadays. Ronaldo, Suarez, Griezmann, Bale, Neymar, Ibra, Cavani all better than him at the moment

Imagine vidal in his position today. You'd have seen a whole different level of leadership and aggression.

Fickle as hell, I remember early in the season he was thrown under the bus by a lot of our fans when the whole team was playing shit. Then when he turned it on later in the season showing best CM in the world form people were giving him virtual high fives like they always believed in him.

That's not Vidal's role either but I agree that he excels in those aforementioned attributes. Pogba isn't a leader yet but I'm sure he'll improve on that in the future. I personally can't wait for Pogba and Dybala destroying defences in Serie A and Europe again.
