It works in Serie A because almost no Italian teams play with wingers. That's why someone like Gervinho is having such success because current Italian defenses are not used to facing wingers and the 3-5-2 is poor against wingers.

Hence, why we blow in Europe. We have to switch to a formation with width like 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.
No italian team uses wingers ? What ?

I don't think our formation let us down in Europe. Not to extent that people on here go on about.

We failed in the CL because of our mentality and giving way too much respect to crappy teams like Galatasaray and Kobenhavn.
People should accept mentality and form were the problems, and should seriously try to pin everything on the formation cause they like flair and fancy

@Zacheryah

You gonna take this bro?
8 infraction points, i dont have time to tell a member of the rapist peasant race what i think about him, having said plenty of times to stop about the subject.

 Wow, just wow!

Form and mentality were indeed part of the problem, but that is over simplification at its finest. We look clueless when plan A doesn't work, and even though we performed admirably against Madrid we only managed 1 point. They were the "inferior" team, one could argue, but they still managed 4 points against us. That is the hallmark of champions.

In Serie A, we can play like shit and manage to get results. In Europe we huff and puff and blow hot air, nothing!

Were form and mentality part of the problem? Yes!

Were they the only problem? No!

Do we need a plan B? Most definitely!

Do we need to be more menacing and attack at pace? Yes. In Serie A, we can get away with being slow and lethargic. In Europe, we need a more direct approach, and to pick up the pace. Our possession game isn't really menacing to anyone.

Man imagine if we sold fringe players like Vucinic and Quag to buy Veratti.
We should sell that useless midget first, but other than that I agree.

I'd be happy to sacrifice Gio, Quag, and even Marchisio for one Verratti.

Just out of curiosity, who would sell pogba for a transfer fee of 60 or more of it meant we could sign Reus and Mata. We would improve the starting 11 and be able to challenge for the CL with the attacking players we seem to lack while still having a strong mid field with MVP and Asa fighting for the three spots.

Switch Reus for Goetze and I'm in.

That one is tough. Do we upgrade our midfield in the process, or are we stuck with Marchisio as a starter? :p

Idk cause Reus is more like an inside forward. I think I would do the trade.

Well we are looking at nainggolan regardless it seems and given we would prob play 433 or 442 with Reus and mata we would not need Asa at left mid so could us him there. As for the option of goetz we could prob not afford him and mata together. I said Reus cuz he has a buy out of 30 and Chelsea would prob sell mata for 25 or 30 given his issues with Jose. IMO we would be a top team with Reus and mata. Creativity and chances galore.
