Does any Pogba-seller here believe that we can pull a Zidane<-->Nedved+Buffon here?
Not with Marotta and not with every manager in the world knowing we have lots of cash.

Pogba's position is essential. He contributes to defense, midfield and attack. In my book a CM like Pogba is worth more than a 25goals/season striker.

So while I am not optimistic about Pogba staying here I don't see a reason to cheer him away for the money. It's so scary to imagine Beppe with 100M cash...(not in a good way)

most people here understand that we have no reason at all to sell him, but there are some who believe that if a 100M offer comes we would have no choice but to sell (which is ridiculous). we can refuse ANY offer, thats how strong we are. the only thing that matters here is what Pogba (not Raiola) himself wants. if he wants to stay, which i believe is the case, then Real, City, PSG, United, Chelsea and Barca combined cant buy him

I already explained why they're breaking records, not going to do it again. And please do me a favor, name centerbacks from Ronaldo/Messi's era who are regarded as legends. With enough talent to be up there with the best of all time. While you're at it, do the same for fullbacks. Nothing? Aw.

And it's also cute to see how fairplay is like a shield for both players, how they're protected from referees. Easy to get past a defender who won't try to kill you afterwards. I'd love to see Messi or Ronaldo facing the likes of Goicoetxea, Baresi, Aldair, Gentile, etc... They'd probably leave them behind but there would be a price.

I never said those players mentioned were mediocre. We're talking about two completely different things here. Those were/are good players but none achieved 'one of the best of all time' status for obvious reasons. I'm talking about the greats, the greats only. And my point is still the same, in any other time in history there was talent in abundance, there were several players who challenged themselves to whom was the best and not just two above the rest. The reason there is only Ronaldo and Messi is simple and clear, Football can't produce anyone good enough to even compete.

No one said they wouldn't be great players. No one is saying they're not truly talented. ffs let's get this straight. The point is in any other era they would face fierce competition and would never be able to maintain the status of best every year for a decade (cause again, we know they'll win again next year and the next...)
There were never a generation where messis and ronaldos where in abundance. Back in the day, all of the talents where closer to each other but that does not entail that they were all 10/10 players. If anything when there was an exceptional talent it was mostly one player at a time. It is rather that for the most part they all were 8/10 and no one was a 10/10.

I'd say today we have two 10/10 players in Ronaldo and Messi and a bunch of 8/10 players. This duo would would dominate in any era. At most they'd receive competition from Pele, Eusibio and the free scoring likes though none of these are half the athletes that Ronaldo and Messi are. The game has changed yes but it didnt just change for Ronaldo and Messi. All the other super talented folk like Suarez, Neymar, Bale, Ibra, Robben, etc.. have just the same chance to score insane amounts of goals.

The balls have become better, the salaries has become better, the scouting has become better, the medical science has become better, the training has become better, the shoes and clothes they wear is now better, the world economy is infinitely better and its easier to find a talent today than 10 years ago let alone ages ago. Football teams have greater financial resources to look for, acquire and nurture talents and their families. Why the hell should we find less talented players today? genes?

nostalgia goggles.

it's the same reason old people keep saying how back in their days life was so simple and everything was great, except life back in anything before 1990s sucked balls.

says the old fart. u are upset the 80s were shit.

u pretend defenders like nesta were the norm then, but this is far from true. there about 8-10 class defenders and the rest were okay or pure shit. same for other positions.

fact is no one but old farts like u would ever think the 80s and 90s were pinnacle of footballing (how can anyone think that when most peopel didnt even have live broadcast or vcrs)
