He doesnt know how to position himself when he takes the Pirlo role, its his main flaw there prolly, he didnt play it for long, but I noticed in past games, and this one, Bonucci had to point out to him where to go/stand a couple of times, because he was in no mans land in terms of being available for pass/being in the proper lanes.
Very common fault for young players trying to play deep to not really just how hard they have to work to keep creating the angles so that they are always available to receive the ball from the defence.

Thought Pogba was pretty poor generally in the game.

And this is exactly why i said Marchisio is supposed to be starter this year at least.

Pogba has the talent, but needs to get past this issue first.

because marchisio can play in pirlo's role? lol
No, its about reading the game and positionning.

A player that knows where to run to be able to create passing lines and angles, and is tactically smart, also knows how to cut those lines.

Pogba is good at positionning for his age, but not quite yet at reading passing lanes let alone intercept them.

I'm allways hammering on about how Marchisio is pretty good at this. Wel now you see why Pogba isnt (yet) that good at it, he doesnt see the angle when he plays deeper.

that's a hard position for anyone in general. no a lot of players, even the best ones have the positional sense of xavi or pirlo

no, you said pogba ruins our tactical flow which is a flat out lie. he proved you wrong 15 seconds later
Nice try, i never said anything like that.

I said that when Pogba played in the BtB position, the wingbacks on 5 occasions had to cover his position, creating a hole on the flank.
That this would be an issue if the opponent was not Nazio, but a team with a good long passer, who'd switch the play into that gap.

So please, stop trying to put words in my mouth i didnt say.

Pogba's talent is out of question, and him going forward definatly adds to this team.
But his positionning, while very good for his age, simply isnt top notch yet. But with players like Pirlo and Marchisio to learn from, that will come

Absolutely - I didn't mean it as a criticism of Pogba, if it came across that way.

It's just something he needs to learn over time.

Not quite.

There are many creative midfielders who are excellent at off the ball movement and positionning. Just look at allmost any spanish one thats 22/23 or older, or the south american lads.

So the positionning, is something that vastly improves with age.

dictating and orchestrating the play like Xavi and Pirlo do however, thats something no one does nearly as good

Pogba needs to learn from Marchisio? I pray to God he skips those classes.
In terms of tactical positionning and awareness, Pogba has years to learn from Marchisio.

You honestly dont think a player who is 30ish games into his senior career, has anything to learn from very well rounded overall midfielder like Marchisio who has played like 200 games for us? Especially the mentionned bit about movement and tactical positioning in terms of knowing where to be at the right times (awareness and smart movement is one of Marchisio's main strenght). Explosive box to box mid part and manhandling and manveuring the man infront of him Pogba is amazing at, but proper movement and positioning is defenitely something he neds to learn more of.

no, i got what you said. i was just exapnding on your post.

but agreed that his positional sense is pretty bad. it is probably his biggest weakness and as long juve play posession football he has to improve it massively.

I'm very sorry, but marchisio is one of the most complete midfielders i know.

Apart from his tactical sense and positionning, his obvious forte, he doesnt excell at anything, but is at least good at everything

Well rounded midfielder? It gets better and better.
You dont think he is well rounded as an overall midfielder? Not that he is great or fantastic at one or many things (though his technique/ball controll is exceptional), but has an overall skillset that makes well rounded midfielder, not someone who just relies on a main skill or expertise persé.
