I think the goalkeeper problem is not solved yet...

I just feel that Moggi should get a young and good goalkeeper as a reserve instead of Chimenti.
On the contrary, someone like Pagliuca wouldnt be a bad choice imo. He's 38 or something, and yet pulls off some really spectacular saves. He'd be a good addition to the squad imo. At least for a season or two.

In a goalkeeper position, Buffon is young enough, what we need is a back-up, simple as that..we don't need a future goalkeeper just yet.

Infact it won't be good to have a young guy on the bench for Buffon, coz the guy won't be able to develop his skills. Experience is most important for a goalkeeper, and not letting him play will just take his talents away thus a wasted investment.

i doubt he'd agree to join us though. at this age i think he's still going on because of love for the game. i dont think he'd stay on if he was a bench warmer for whole 38 games of the season.

Pagliuca would be an excellent back up to Buffon but who's to say that he would accept a bench-warming role at this stage of his career when he's definitely good enough to start for a number of teams in Italy's top flight?

Sure. However, i think Capello would instill enough faith in him to play through the Coppa as well as Serie A fixtures which are followed by CL games midweek. Capello doesnt have enough faith in Chimenti, but it could be different with Pagliuca. I for one, would love to see him take up the role Rampulla left behind.

I wouldnt want Palguica as a second string because he should be playing out his last days and enjoying himslef with soccer. Maybe at a club like Siena where he would have some fin.
