    Man, Arsenal's site is amazing..

Patrick Vieira leaves Arsenal after nine seasons at Highbury and the contribution the Frenchman has made to the club in that time is second to none.

The skipper made 406 appearances in all competitions, the highest among the current squad. Dennis Bergkamp is second with 392 but the Dutch master has spent a season longer with the club.

Vieira has been a virtual ever-present since signing for the Gunners in 1996. He has played an average of 45 games per season, a momentous average when you consider that a Premiership campaign is 38 games.

Vieira made his debut as a substitute against Sheffield Wednesday on September 16, 1996. Arsenal ran out 4-1 winners after a hat-trick from Ian Wright and a goal from David Platt.

The Frenchman's first goal for Arsenal came three months later, a last-minute equaliser at home to Derby County. Vieira only scored one more goal that season, against Everton, but managed 33 in total during his Arsenal career.

Last season the midfielder hit the back of the net on seven occasions, his joint highest strike rate for Arsenal after also hitting seven during the 2000/01 campaign.

His final goal for Arsenal came during the 7-0 rout of Everton at Highbury on May 11, 2005. But he found the net once more with the decisive penalty in the FA Cup Final shoot-out against Manchester United.

Vieira couldn’t have made a more valuable contribution with his very last kick of the ball in an Arsenal shirt, beating Roy Carroll from the spot to bring the Cup back to Highbury.

The World Cup winner also has the distinction of being Arsenal’s most capped international, taking the honour from England legend Kenny Sansom in March of this year.

Vieira amassed 79 caps for France during his spell with Arsenal, breaking the record in his 78th game against Switzerland on March 26.

During his nine-season spell at Arsenal Vieira won three Premiership titles and four FA Cups, including two doubles. He was also a UEFA Cup finalist in 2000.

The table below shows Patrick Vieira's season-by-season appearance record at Arsenal.
    Code:
Season Premiership	Europe	FA Cup	League Cup	Community Shield
    1996/7	31	0	3	3	0
    1997/8	33	2	9	2	0

I'm glad we got such a respected player who is still loved by the club and its fans. A far different Scenario than Gerrard a week or two ago.

I can't wait for the new season to start, welcome to the best club Vieira.

Its a good deal on Juve's part... He has the experience and ability to partner Emerson, a suitable candidate. His price was also right IMO.

But, man, I just really, really hate his team and to think he's the captain :( Ah, but now he's in Juventus, the past shall be forgotten

    Hope he does well!

    Capello's Vieira delight

Juventus coach Fabio Capello has hailed the capture of Patrick Vieira and praised the efforts of his board for securing the signature of the Arsenal star.

Vieira is set to be unveiled as a Juventus player on Friday, subject to him successfully passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

Capello feels Vieira can spur Juve onto more glory next season and is happy to have landed the France international.

"I think that once again like last year, we achieved the first aim we had in the market," said Capello.

"I must pay a great compliment to our officials, [Roberto] Bettega, [Antonio] Giraudo and [Luciano] Moggi, who worked tirelessly on this deal.

"Vieira is a huge player, with a big personality.

"In the midfield he shows his technical value and his physical qualities."
