    Six-month stop for Bianchi
    Monday 26 September, 2005
Reggina and Italy have been dealt a massive blow after Under-21 international Rolando Bianchi was today ruled out for six months.

The former Cagliari striker was only expected to be sidelined for about four weeks after twisting his knee against Scotland at the start of September.

However, the injury is more serious than first thought and the Atalanta youth product has undergone surgery for ligament damage.

Bianchi, who is regarded as Alberto Gilardino’s heir for the Azzurrini, will now have to prove his fitness ahead of next summer’s U-21 European Championships - should Italy get there.

Reggina are currently fighting relegation after picking up just three points from their first five League games.

you know what that spells? that palladino will be playing or as a sub for the u-21 national team!!

U-21: Gentile calls in new faces Friday 30 September, 2005

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Italy boss Claudio Gentile has called up five uncapped players for the Azzurrini’s last two European Championship qualifiers.

Having already secured top spot in Group 5, the tactician has decided to experiment ahead of the games against Slovenia and Moldova.

Gentile has promoted five of his Under-20 players in the shape of Cigarini, Coda, Dellafiore, Galloppa and Pelle'.

He has also recalled Juventus left-back Giorgio Chiellini after his recent use by Marcello Lippi in the full side.

Atalanta forward Andrea Lazzari and Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani are absent as they are suspended for the opening game.

Top scorer Rolando Bianchi is missing after the Reggina youngster was sidelined for six months with knee ligament damage.

Italy face Slovenia on Friday October 7 at Vicenza, while they play Moldova in Chieti on Tuesday 11.

The squad will meet up at Bassano del Grappa on October 4.

    Goalkeepers: Berni (Ternana), Curci (Roma).

Defenders: Bovo (Roma), Canini (Cagliari), Chiellini (Juventus), Coda (Empoli), Dellafiore (Treviso), Mantovani (Chievo), Marchese (Chievo), Potenza (Mallorca).

Midfielders: Cigarini (Parma), Donadel (Fiorentina), Galloppa (Triestina), Montolivo (Fiorentina), Motta (Udinese), Rosina (Torino), Sammarco (Chievo).

Attackers: Palladino (Livorno), Pazzini (Fiorentina), Pelle' (Lecce), Pepe (Palermo).

Even though Livorno lost to Fiorentina 2 - 3, they still put up a tough fight against them. Lucarelli was sent off in the 16th minute, leaving Palladino all by himself as the only striker. I think he played a good game though and he will probably be put as the main attacker in for the next 2 games.
