Stop being so silly and biased. A cartoon makes fun of Mohammed. Big fucking deal. If it was Jesus you'd probably be laughing your ass off.
:lol2:

Why would I do that? I hold Hazrat Isa to a great regard, he is a prophet I believe in. Really goes to show how ignorant people are.

But you see it is a big deal, that's where you are ignorant. Why do you thing people feel offended? Are we all extremists? Give me your insight on this.

What? Why are you spewing with disagreement, saying it's wrong to insult in cartoons then? It's just a fucking cartoon afterall.

Okay, then use Ghandi for example. Or the typical "American." Throw in whatever fits, Jesus freak.
Ghandi or the typical American isn't a religious figure. No one cares if you want to insult a political or any typical Muslim. It's just that we hold Prophet Muhammad to a high regard, much like you do your father, and you didn't like people poking at him, so just give us the common courtesy and leave our prophet out of it.

You can argue against all you want, just leave insults out of it...I mean...is that asking for too much?

Why am I a Jesus freak? Because I respect him? Damn, there is no middle ground with some people.

What if that American happens to be my father?

Freedom of speech. If someone wants to make a cartoon showing my father having sex with another man, I can't do anything about it because it's a cartoon. Key word here is CARTOON. It's not supposed to be taken seriously.

You lot need to lighten up a little.

We respect Jesus too, Andy.

Oh me too. I've had a change of heart. In fact, if one of these days I become the editor of a newspaper, I will write about everyone's mother. One by one, the mothers of all inhabitants will be targeted, I shall not rest until my freedom of speech is fully utilized. I will not let some sensitive mother-lovers, religious extremists, aka the enemies of democracy to stand in my way.

Lighten up how? I'm just voicing my right to disagree with it and that's all I can do. I'm really not going to go out of my way to argue something people really don't care to listen to. Anyone can see that these things are being done to rile up people, the whole freedom of speech thing is just a smoke screen.

It doesn't matter if it's a cartoon, but here is where I stop arguing this with you. You are so misinformed about Islam and Prophet Muhammad that even if I went on and on with you about this, you will never fathom why we are upset at this.

Considering this is my last post in this thread, I will end with this...

Forza Danmark, Forza Sverige, Forza Finland, Forza Island, Forza Norge!

Greatest places to live on the planet, I feel bad for their people as they 'pay' for the ignorance of violent and ignorant Muslims. These places have provided a haven for millions of people and one idiotic move by one idiotic newspaper shouldn't shed a shadow on their kindness.

Yea I know. But I've seen Muslims laugh at Jesus, too.

But oh no, not Muhammed.

There is a difference here.
No, Andy. The Muslim you're saying that he was laughing at Jesus is not a true Muslim. In our religion, there are 25 prophets that we have to respect, and Jesus and Moses are two of them.

I always thought that the Muslims also had paintings with Mohammed's face. I may be wrong, but i thought the prohibition against depicting Mohammed did not arise until the 17th century ?

What I'm tired of hearing is that I'm ignorant. I'm ignorant about Islam, ignorant about the rest of the world, ignorant because I'm an American. Get the fuck out of here with that shit.

No, Alen. It is forbidden to draw the prophet's face. And this have been going since around 14 centuries. Nobody did it.

I guess there are a lot of fake Muslims then.
Well, it is not me that I can judge who is true Muslim or fake, but I know that one of the most essential bases of Islam is "Believing in prophets", and those prophets were mentioned by name in Quran.

That's perfectly fine and all, but why should people who do not believe in Islam not even dare to criticize the almighty him/her/it? How about joke? I mean, it's this sort of thing that causes supposed holy wars.

I don't want to get involved in this discussion at all so before i answer your post i'd like to say that my stance about this issue may be a little unortodox for an atheist, but i do support the Muslims in this case. I support freedom of speech but we really need to learn how to respect the differences. At least the ones that aren't dangerous at all.

As for this particular thing about the past images of Mohammed, i once read an interesting essay written by a Muslim where the man claims (and he's really convincing) that the Muslims did picture Mohammed's face before the late 16th-early 17th century.
These pictures can be found on the net, but i won't put them here of course.
I'll only give you a link to the essay Reb, so read it if you want.

You're right, Andy. It should not develop into a war or anything violent, but isn't it my right not to deal with those who don't respect what I believe in??

Maybe the one who drew those drawings had honest interntions and he was only joking, but he could say a word to those who were affected with such acts, and say that he didn't mean to hurt anybody. I don't think that would decrease his value as an artist. On the opposite, he will receive much respect from all over the world, and not only from Muslims.

I am Roman Catholic, but good god, Muslims need to get up with it. It is ok for them to be pissed. But it's an okay thing for the Danish paper to do. If someone wants to slander Jesus, go ahead, I don't really care. That's your opinion. If you want to insult my mother in a newspaper, go for it. Slander/libel is one thing, freedom of speech is another.

But why should he come out and apologize for something that was always meant as a joke? That's what cartoons are made for. It's his job. If people are pissed off at a cartoon, I guess we can't even have cartoons then because they're made for poking fun at all sorts of different issues. The world would be a pretty boring place.

:agree: Exactly. And welcome.
