How can you say that Nistelrooy is better than Del Piero. He had only one good season with Man Utd 2002/2003 but has been performing awfully since then.
Del Piero actually had 1 or 2 bad seasons. 1999/2000 was his worst season, but don't forget he had been out of action for almost an entire year. In 2000/2001 he wasn't great, but Juve played terribly that season and would say he was our best players. I remember so many matches when apart from Alex, all our players were just walking on the field. In 2001/2002 and 2002/2003 he was in top form again and in 2003/2004 his form dropped after another injury. This season he was in great form again but didn't get enough chances to play. I really think Lippi should have played him ahead of Totti who didn't do anything apart from that penalty.
Nistelrooy was consistant more than for one year...
Dp had two great seasons prior 98 injury afterwhich he never regained himself. 2002/2003 in top form? Are u sure? He was good in many games but far from consistant.

Zidane was the main man during his time, and Nedved afterwords...like Sateeh said, DP is an influencial figure and has great personality, but performance wise, he's not consistanly the best....his last two years with capello has been his best in 4 years may be..

Since his injury and Zidanes departure, I really felt Juve could play without him, but as an Icon and Figure, nobody could ever match DP's influence on Juve's team.

Del Piero had great 2002/03 season and his start in 2003/04 was great(till his injury).

You can't compare Serie A with the Premiership. Nistelrooy performed well for 1 or 2 years but his recent performances have been awful. Del Piero is not a typical goalscorer. Prior to 1998 he did not play as a striker that's why he didn't score many goals. But this doesn't he didn't play well.
2001/2002, 2002/2003, and 2005/2006 are Del Piero's best seasons since his injury.

    - Match-fixing, obviously
    - Buying Zlatan, Vieira, Emerson, and Zebina
    - Hiring Capello
    - Selling/Loaning players who have been the backbone of the team for years to leave - Tacchinardi, Davidds
    - Benching Del Piero
    - Playing Nedved as a winger
    - Sticking to the classic 4-4-2 formation
    - Letting Di Vaio and Miccoli go
    - Not giving talented young players a chance to - Kapo, Appiah
    - Changing the old badge :p
Actually, I think the only good decisions recently are signing Cannavaro and bringing Thuram to the centre of the defence.
    all mistakes form mr. CAPELLO!!!!!!!

    1. Cheating, even if it wasn't really the club as a whole
    2. not investing in young creative players
    3. no playmaker
    4. not moving to a new stadium.
    5. instead of taking Zlatan and improving his attitude and everything, he has gotten worst in is time here.
