Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Juventus move

Amsterdam, August 31, 2004
Ajax have reached agreement with Juventus FC about the immediate transfer of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish striker moved from Malmö FF to Ajax in 2001. His contract ran to 2006. The clubs have agreed to a transfer sum of 16 million euro.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his debut for Ajax in the preliminary round of the Champions League against Celtic FC on 8 Augustus 2001. He pIayed 110 official matches for Ajax with 47 goals. Last season the Swede was Ajax's top scorer in the league with 13 goals.
Ajax won the championship with Ibrahimovic in 2002 and 2004. He also helped the club win the Amstel Cup and the Johan Cruijff Shield in 2002.

Ibrahimovic has earned 28 caps for Sweden and has scored 10 goals for his country.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will face Ajax with his new club Juventus in the UEFA Champions League very soon. The Italians come to Amsterdam on 15 September. Ajax play the return match in Turin on 23 November.

I think he made a stupid choice-the best way to improve is to be pushed, and have the best possible competition. it's the best possible motivation, especially when the team you are fighting to play for is Juve!

Juventus have completed the signing of Ajax striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for €16 million (£10.8 million).

The Bianconeri signed Italian captain Fabio Cannavaro earlier on Tuesday and worked hard to seal their second big deal of the day.

The Swedish star signed after the Italian deadline of 19:00 CET (18:00 BST), but Juve convinced the authorities to open again and they sealed the deal before 22:00 CET.

Ajax blocked the transfer because they did not have a bank guarantee from Juve, but the Italian club came up with the money and the deal was concluded.

Imo that is FINE price for a player like Zlatan.. ! only 22 years old remember !

Juve Kosova,

I agree 10m sterling pound is fine deal for Zlatan, considering his flair can not only improve this team greatly, but could also boost team's market image. I believe Zlatan has certain ego and style, which could make him a global star (Which he isnt right now).:). So taking finanical perspective, this is very good deal IMO, and comparing it with the money Man U offered for 18 year old Rooney, OMG. - We've got a steal!:D.

I guess they must have used historic cost to calculate (Which is normal convention) Carrini's value, because we know for sure he isnt worth that much in current market.:).
